the street test surprised me, the DJI held up really well once they got somewhere louder and more open. honestly that’s closer to where I’d use a wireless mic most of the time

The DJI Mic 2 actually has a low-cut filter that can help with the muddy sound. Might be worth experimenting with that instead of relying on the NR

I think the subtextual conclusion for use of either of these products has to be that it doesn't matter what you use in noisy environments. What matters is knowing how much you have expertise and ability to do, and planning appropriately. For example, using Noise Reduction on-mic would be helpful if the editor has no access to denoising plugins. If they do, then with what's available now it might be easier to record as clean a signal as possible at the time, and let the editor work their magic. (whether its all one person, or different people)

I think vloggers solved this problem a long time ago with the mini shotgun mics on cameras, as they are more directional where these lapels are omnidirectional (360 deg pickup pattern). But if you're on the move, or nowhere near the camera, these lapels are better.

Great analysis and comparison check, hopefully brings some more consideration and thought to mic selection for noisy environments and the expertise you need to make sound judgements! (see what I did there? 😉)

You need to compare all low-cut, noise suppression and audio enhancements turned off on both transmitters for a fair test, regardless of the way they come out of the box, that is irrelevant!
