A lot of you shared that you personally had better experiences doing smaller amounts throughout the day instead.
Really appreciate all the feedback and tips — I’m learning a lot from you guys too!! Still not sure I ever want to see another sardine again though 😂

I sardine fasted for 11 days in 2025. You were nauseous because you ate TOO MANY sardines at once. I'm a big guy with hunger problems and I only eat two cans at a time.

I did the 5 day Sardine fast about two weeks ago . I’m shocked by your results. I ate 3 cans per day in oil . I also took electrolytes. I loss 12 Ibs I had decreased inflammation in my knee. By day 4 I was no longer hungry . I had more energy . I had no gas no heartburn no acid reflux. I just felt good slept better as well. Cravings got better as well . It really gave me a jump start in my journey . I’m 61 and by the end of day 5 I felt like I was 35 again.

I've never heard of anyone eating 4 can at a time. Only 1 or 2 at a time.

Just finished 3 day sardine diet. Lost 7 pounds. I achieved ketosis for the 2nd time in all the years of doing keto, without much success. This works. Now, 4 days later, I'm eating avocado, EVOO, boiled eggs and chicken. I'm still in 4.0 ketosis daily. This works!! I am not even really hungry. I am desperate to start losing this weight, because I need double knee replacement and need to lose 60 pounds.

You ate too much at a time. 4 cans is insane. The point of the fast is to NOT eat, then eat the sardines when hunger hits. If you don't eat, fine. But when you get hungry, eat sardines. Forcing 4 cans, no go.

I did a 72 hour sardine fast but only ate 1 can 3 times a day. I lost 10 pounds.
I did not get nauseated. I slept great.
I had never tasted sardines before. I did not like them. I ended up putting paprika and jalapeño mustard with lemon. Game changer!
I now crave them which is strange. I will do it again.

I did my first “sardine” fast a few weeks ago. However, I mixed one can of sardines with one can of mackerel and one can of herring. That is what I ate for the day, 1/2 at lunch 1/2 at dinner. I weighed on Monday and Thursday at 6 am. Dropped 13.6 pounds. Don’t love it but it’s a useful tool.

Four tins in one setting would wreck me. I could only eat one per meal x 3 or sometimes only 2x a day. Trying to match your calories of a regular day of eating isn't necessary if you're attempting to mimic a fast.

Day 1 - fasted the whole day drinking nothing but plain water and a black coffee. Broke fast around 6:30pm, was hungry and ate a King Oscar brand of sardine in extra virgin olive oil with jalapeños. Delicious. Satisfying. Still felt hungry after 30 mins and ate another can. Felt satiated and went to bed, no problem. Slept well.

Day 2 - same story. Broke the fast in the evening. Felt hunger and ate a tin of the same brand. Rawdogged the tin. Delish. Felt full and didn’t eat anything again. Slept well and felt amazing.

Day 3 - same story but craved a bullet proof coffee which kept me going the whole day. Drank an electrolyte drink as well and about 3 liters of water, which is around what I drink per day. Broke the fast in the evening with 1 can. Felt full and had zero ill effects. No nausea, no headaches. Good energy.

I’ll do it once a month. Great reset! 👍🏻

I too was shocked at the amount of sardines you ate in one meal. i just did my second 3-day sardine fast ( in lieu of of a no-food fast) and i only ate one can for lunch and one can for dinner....no breakfast. I like it because it satisfies my hunger. I lost weight and felt better both times!

A 72 hours sardine fast done by someone in pretty perfect health & weight is going to be very different than one done by someone looking to improve their health and lose weight or break a stall.

I did it for a week, sardines with oil, a max of 3 cans A DAY. Four cans per meal is way too much!!!

I ate sardines only for 5 days. 2 or 3 cans a day. They are very satisfying. I am a carnivore, but I ate it with EVOO, salt, lemon juice, and hot sauce. I felt great!
