You misunderstand the no escape card. It's total doom that the enemy already has, not how much as been applied through this card. So if you're fight a boss with 100 doom, this card will do 60 doom. Very strong card

I appreciate that you show card text when talking about them. Too many youtubers expect people to have perfect memory about every item or card.

No escape and times up are VERY strong if you're playing in multiplayer with other necrobinders.

Now I have to make a video titled “why no escape is the most misunderstood card”

Also misery isn't directly a doom card but doom is a debuff so I'd count it as synergetic

One problem I have with doom is that it doesn't interact with enemies that have damage threshold triggers, some of which are moderately important to reach to avoid getting totally decked by elites and two of the bosses.

No escape can be incredibly powerful and is one of the only options that enables a “doom only” necrobinder. If you can get souls to consistently draw it and at least 2 copies, you can get to the point where you are applying 50 or 60 doom per turn on some bosses, I got the queen with 560 doom on one run (which was way more than I needed to kill her as she only had about 200 or so hp) but you can see how quickly it can exponentially scale if your playing at least 2-3 per turn

One of the reasons blight strike tends to be bad is it has counter synergy with Friendship  and Shared Fate that both reduce your own strength. Both those cards are incredible on necrobinder because as you scale most of your damage can come from Doom or Osty which are both uneffected by your own strength.
Sometimes you need that strike+ early but it's not great to take things that are bad with cards you'll want later.

6:56 times up is really strong if the opponent literally has half of their health doomed specially with retain even before half health it can deal insane damage on a doom heavy deck

Would argue that No Escape is consistently fairly good in a multiplayer setting where boss health pools are much more bloated. If you’ve speced into a deck already applying a bunch of doom (especially in AOE fights), you’re much more likely to be in situations where the multiplicative serves an actual purpose (especially with new players who struggle to consistently do damage).

In single-player, I usually just take like 2 copies of negative pulse and use scourge as a pommel strike equivalent, works great as supplemental damage and lets you search the deck fairly quickly.

I finally got my first a10 necro win after watching this video! The oblivion dirge combo was very potent.

100% agree. I'm only ascension 4 on necro but I've been using exactly the cards you mentioned and doom has been very nice to me.

4:45 I think that No Escape is a lot like claw in that you can slot one in when you have a normal amount of doom synergies for a non-doom-focused deck, and then it basically solves your scaling for any long boss fight. It doesn't scale fast but it scales reasonably well if it has any support at all, and allows you to handle large healthbars by adding a single scaling-focused card to your deck while focusing on defence primarily. Claw, similarly, is an easy trap as an offensive build-around, but serves great as a single copy to handle scaling in a smaller deck

Having a block first deck also allows for building up Osty, so it is quite versatile. There was a daily climb with a mostly custom initial deck, and I tried a heavy doom deck with the power that does 9 damage whenever you apply a debuff, and that proved to be quite powerful. Doom is very useful for getting past high defense mobs, and there are also cards that spread all debuffs from one target to all others. I really enjoy using the daily climb to experiment with new builds.  Death's door is a hugely efficient block if you have a doom focused deck.

Oblivion goes extremely hard with Capture Spirit and Invoke. Reduce your deck size as much as you can, get a card like Skulpting Strike or Cleanse and each turn you play has exponentially more energy and applies exponentially more Doom.

This DOOM debate is going to be eternal isn’t it…

No escape: Apply 10 Doom plus 5 for every 10 Doom on an enemy.
Enemy has no Doom. it applies 10 Doom.
Enemy has 10 Doom, it applies 10 + 5 Doom for 15 Doom.
Enemy has 100 Doom, it applies 10 Doom + (5x10) = 60 Doom.

When you're in a mass doom build, No escape can be the highest single application of Doom for 1 cost. as long as the enemy has 50 doom, there isn't a single card that applies more doom without any other setup.

Very helpful and good video. Well explained and persuasive

This is a great video and I’m glad to see people still trying to make use of Doom and give more info to the playerbase.

That being said, You missed one of the main reasons players criticize Doom, and that is that it does not apply DMG like Poison. Poison deals DMG every turn and brings enemies lower and lower in HP while Doom does not. So scaling poison during a fight is much more rewarding (esp in Multiplayer) than Doom

Have a character specific status with an entire decks worth of cards dedicated to it and yet not being good is an issue, with how much is dedicated to doom it should be better. mostly just needs buffs to a decent amount of cards like shroud. Doom being only seen as ok supplemental effect is like having poison only being seen as ok supplemental effect.
