Mid Canterbury Tahr Hunt – High Country Bull Down

We kicked off a mission into the Mid Canterbury high country with two good mates and camped at an awesome little 6 bunk hut. This trip had everything. We packed in for a couple of days, soaked up the views, and had a mean base camp to hunt from.
The plan was simple. Glass hard, cover country, and try track down a nice Tahr. After spotting a few animals across the valley, things finally lined up. We closed the gap, got into position, and managed to drop a great looking tahr in some epic terrain.
Massive high country views, steep climbs, cold mornings, and exactly the type of mission we all hunt for.

As an oldie (I'm in my 70's), I'm always interested in the rifle,
the calibre and the distance an animal is shot from. I'm big
fan of the Tikka Lite, I have to say that because I've had three!
I shot my first Tahr last boxing day and would like something
better! But I'm still looking for my first Chamois.
Good video, but watch the volume of the music when playing
while you are doing a voice over, my ears aren't that good now
adays lol.
