Thanks for the videos 😀 just went on thunderpole to get my own T_X handheld and you can buy a Thunderpole CB Radio Tactical Handheld Antenna (27 Mhz) | 108cm | BNC and that should help with range a bit 🙃
I was on CB back in the day early 80s with my brother 😄 and you would struggle to find a free channel to talk on then.
Now it's a little dead and I only get Welsh stations from here in Glous.
been wandering about with my handheld Amatuer radio on 2m/70cm on the local repeters  as an amature licenced user and thought it would be good to get back into CB, also as Ive just bought ctr ss9900v and had to order a new silver rod 5/8 wave as the coil is gone on the old one after years of being on the roof.
I still have 2 or 3 old cb radios that i've kept, and today i wandered  about with with an old midland cb with an old leather case which i bought years ago that holds a battery pack and antenna (made by Midland) but sadly no contacts today, but i'm looking forward to my new lighter handheld and will report back with my results.
When my new antenna (silverrod) turns up and i servive the ladder climb up on the house lol I will also test it on there.
thanks again for the video and sorry if my spellings a bit off 🤣 catch you on the airwaves 😝

I can't get anything on mine

Get an extendable antenna,  do a range test , thank me later

Why not use a cheapo baofeng for the lkds?

All good but CB is useless in built up areas like mine.

Hiya. Yes and yes.
A bigger antenna would make a big difference. You would still only be running 4 watts though and no side bands. You'd be better off picking up a second hand base station like the SS9900 or similar to be honest I think.

I am interested in getting a CB radio and fancy a hand held. I appreciate their range limitations so could one of these be connected to a larger base station type aerial for greater range when using from home. Can the Thunderpole be charged via a power bank.

Interesting I decided to try and get back into CB radio when travelling up to Norfolk , got a good deal on a identical secondhand radio, same  spec two weeks ago , came with a car kit and got a thunderpole car 27 aerial don't want a long whip , disabled and can't  reach to keep removing when going under height restrictions I have to negotiate in my CRV , it also came with two additional aerials (abrecht rubber duck and a thunderpole tactical ) . I have used it a few times and to be honest not picked up much, a station in Corsica and some foreign people on EU/PL , I live in Bedfordshire . Have tried a wire 19.5 inch counterpoise as seen on YT  , made no difference, any tips welcome. I am hoping the Car 27 gives same range or more as the rubber duck/tactical aerials when mobile but haven't driven far as have a knackered back at the moment
Lastly the Thunderpole site has a map of CB users , you can add yourself to it and see who is in your area and what channel they use, only a handful in Beds/Herts and North Norfolk

Man, start sending those radios to the U.S. Market!

Never understood why handheld CB's are that much more expensive than budget ham/GMRS handhelds, with less modern features (mainly USB CHARGING).
Cheapest ham HT is under 20 bucks, cheapest CB HT I've ever seen new was $50+.

Will thunderpole ever do an ssb handheld i wonder?

we can i find handheld USB-LSB ?

Just FYI. The tx has an excellent car kit it £14.99 from thunderpole.  It also has a so259 on it and the unit screws into the base of the tx.

Thunder pole do a car kit for the tx as well 👍

Cracking radio love mine - I have managed 5 plus miles from home . I bought mine when they first came out - excellent value

Hi hope you are all well, I got the PNI hp 82 which is basically the same as the thunder pole, you can get an adapter for the thunder pole for a mag mount which goes in the cigarette lighter ,as I’m sure by now you know it’s got a Roger bleep as well.Good video 73s .
