If your wife thinks money is the only reason you’re still with her, maybe she’s already forgotten what marriage is supposed to mean.

I'm a woman living in Cape Town, South Africa. The husband  character in this story was very wise and deserves a medal. I have seen in my life how money changes people and I must say I find it shocking. In cases I've observed I actually found that money can be used as an on/off switch with certain types of people.....disgustingly accurately. I agree that silence about your financial situation is crucial for protection and survival. Thank you for this story.❤🇿🇦

The best part is he did all of this to teach his son how a real man carries himself. No rage, no screaming- just pure, calm accountability

Magnolia TX,  I think you did the right thing. She never asked in detail what you did for a living. She assumed. You loved her and wanted her to succeed. Getting to sure of ourselves can become the calm before the storm,

He nailed it !! She was on the train track , and didn’t hear the train coming… or should I say she got nailed !!! You go boy !!!!

Second point: when her restaurant was failing, he was able to dissect her personality and character — all the traits that showed who she was, how badly she wanted to be a self-made woman, how her identity was wrapped up in her status. He saw all of that clearly enough to help her when she was failing. So when her "true character" came out later, why the surprise? He wanted to be loved by her so badly that he ignored the very character she'd built the whole relationship on. That's on you, sir.

V was indeed a cruel woman, arrogant and narcissitic.

From the outset, you made yourself small, the smaller you allowed yourself to become, the crueller and more arrogant she became.

She got exactly what she deserved.  Some people never learn until they feel exactly what they inflict on others.

Well told story🎉

Good for you. GOD BLESS!!!

I love this story. Quiet and powerful ❤❤

Nice story watching from Atlanta Georgia

This is unusually good writing.

I like the way you handled it, from Utah.

You were a decent man and handled the situation with finesse and dignity. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

The moment money becomes a weapon in a marriage, something deeper is already broken. Respect matters more than who controls the bank account. 💯

You found yourself and was given the key to protect yourself. Their arrogance was their downfall. You did good I am in Porterville CA.

You’re a good man. You tried to help your wife and she was ungrateful for the investor who helped her out, making it seem it was her. Had you told her you could help things might have been worse. Sometimes money doesn’t change people it only brings out what they really are.

#1 you did the most beautiful way not only to humble Vanessa but lost everything that she could have in life ❤ the story from New York

There is NOTHING smart or intelligent about allowing yourself to be belittled for years on end. It's simply pathetic. Waiting to be loved and respected is cowardice.

you didv everything prefect.

You did it right.
