Last Saturday, September 26, we held the 4th Assembly of the Organizing Committee for the 500th Anniversary of the birth of Benito Arias Montano (1527-2027). The meeting took place at the Arias Montano European Center for Humanism in Fregenal de la Sierra and brought together the institutions and associations involved in organizing this commemoration.

Among the agreements reached, the assembly unanimously approved the current version of the calendar of activities. It was also agreed that the fifth and final assembly will be held in Seville on November 27, thus uniting the efforts of the municipalities in the Sierra region with those of the Sevillian institutions.

The associations and institutions that make up this committee are pleased that our work is bearing fruit, and we look forward with enthusiasm to December 8 and 9, when we will travel first to Antwerp and then to Brussels to present the program at the Plantin-Moretus Museum and the European Parliament.

Everything is almost ready to open the doors in 2027 and commemorate, with the honors it deserves, the birth of Benito Arias Montano and a five-century-old Montanian tradition.
