Unfortunately, Jeff Conaway's journey wasn't as charming as his looks. He grew up a survivor, he experienced the highs and lows of fame with humility and determination, yet he just couldn't get to win the fight against his crippling addiction.

I met Jeff Conway back in 1992. He was leaving a restaurant on Broadway in lower Manhattan. Someone walking by yelled “hey you need a taxi”. ! I started laughing and he turned to me and said “That guy is a real comedian”! He was smiling and I replied “ I wonder why he said that to you”. Jeff then started laughing and shook my hand. When I was in high school, taxi was on TV and it seemed like the whole school tuned in to watch it. When I found out about his struggles, and of course his passing, I was saddened, remembering the time we met and he shook my hand. Rest in peace

Jeff was a great guy, he used to hang out at a couple clubs I DJed at in the late 80s and early 90s in NYC. Was such a humble nice guy and so sad that he got addicted to pain killers. RIP.

I’m from the 80’s and even then Grease was big, the supporting actors make a tremendous difference. RIP

I met Jeff on my 17th birthday at a taping of Taxi. I swear I was his biggest fan. So I talked to an usher and was able to meet him in person. And I got 2 kisses from him!!! Best birthday ever! 😍🤩

It's so strange to find out about the huge traumas and disasters that some people go through, living lives that are unending upheavals. I'm grateful that nothing like this happened to me.

When I saw grease in June 1978 I just graduated catholic school that I despised. No friends, bad grades and depression. I had to fight for a ride to the movie. The theme of the movie showed a message how GREAT everyone is friends and getting along. So sad behind the scenes Jeff was “broken and alone”. Sorry Jeff. Thank you for the great scenes. Now when I watch grease, I know the real game!!! R.I.P.

Saw him on Broadway in 1974 when in starred as Danny Zuko, taking over the role that John Travolta relinquished several months before.

I remember being a kid and watching him in Grease and thinking how bad it must suck to be 30 and still be in high school lol

Although i was still just a kid, Jeff still stood out as the more talented actor and dancer, and i thought it was strange that he wasn't the lead character in Grease.

I remember seeing Conaway talking about becoming a Born Again Christian on a news show. He must've had a moment of clarity and then fell back into addiction.
