Im an auto repair shop in NWPA. Quality parts are a nightmare. Take for instance a 3.6 pentastar thermostat. You can buy a Motorad from part store for 20 bucks. On the box it says "oe supplier" I can tell you the one from the dealership is $110 and worth every penny. Iv had them both side by side and the quality different if obvious. Especially electrical but any time I go inside an engine I only buy OEM parts. Most people dont understand what that means.
After 45 years wrenching, I noticed since covid hit in 2020 ,so many parts suppliers went out of business parts are garbage even at dealer where I work ,can't trust any parts lately
Ok Nate. 20+ years ago. I had the starter go out on my 6.2 Diesel. I took bad one out. Hand carried it about 2 miles. Got a reman starter. Hand carried back put it in. It started my truck ONCE. I took that starter out and had to carry that to the store. Needless to say, I was PI*SED.
Great video and explanation sharing the problem with the parts. The manufacturers of most products will keep on updating and redesigning their products to ensure turn over to keep the business going. F1 is a good example where the engines are designed to only last for a specific time or distance before needing replacement. Actually part of the Capitalist system. Enjoy your day further. Stay safe and keep well. Kindest regards to you all from Johannesburg South Africa.
Multi complex thing. Cheap parts are perfect 80-90% of time for the remaining life of car is short overall.
If one intends to stretch life of vehicle way out (most don't realistically) buy high dollar parts and no there will be more items near failure too so add a few more high quality while you are in there. Do that each time and your rig will last long time and yu become God mechanic. (and you likely have better than avg. income)
Cheap parts + wise person= cheap @each breakdown getting you by till you save enough to execute plan to replace car.
That also employs mechanics. Wise mechanics will ask owner their plan.. "how long you plan to keep car? What is your timelines? " here is your options based on keep long, keep short plan
Is that a 1 or 2 stage vacuum pump? Wanting to get one for myself, along with refrigerant....I do have my 609 license...or certificate, and was wanting to work on my AC.
