I subscribed today because, and I need you to hear this, it was at exactly 2:18 i realized in my heart before it hit my mind, that we were in for a pleasant boat ride time lapse through the golden gate with chill music which synthesized into a kind of soul refreshing catharsis I didn't know I needed. I would have watched it all the way into port. I hope to enjoy a similar feeling at other great ports to enjoy their beauty as well. Great stuff, keep it up :)

You can see the USS Hornet in the background across Alameda. Participated in the raid on Tokyo in WWII. Enjoyed watching this, having lived and worked in the are for 30 years and never saw this side of it.🙂

The background music is a nice touch

I just discovered your channel and I find your videos quite compelling. I’m a longshoreman (Local 10) and have often wondered how the ships maneuver through the various waterways. Keep up the good work… I’ll keep watching.

Always fun to watch your work Capn 🏆🎉

That water displacement is a real thing when long ships like that go down the main channel in Stockton. It will push boats away from the dock at lads and it’s a quarter of a mile away from the main channel

In the Navy we went under the GG at 9am and sat in the fog off of Alcatraz for three hours. I’ll bet you’ve done that a few times 👍

Excellent video admire all the skill you pilots have

What a nice day to be on the water!

Outstanding!

Great job and great video! Thanks!

Spent time waiting watching ships turning at the turning basin. Fun to see from your perspective. As you made the turn I could see the Hornet in the distance. I can't see when in the estuary as my eye point is only 8 feet above the water. Maybe 10 when I'm standing on the seat looking over the dodger. I also am learning where you head ships and turn them in the Bay so I will be able to predict where you will be turning and heading to better stay away from you. Always try to think a couple of steps ahead. Thanks for the ride.

Really love this video, as I happened to see the Erving go by recently!

Pretty kool video.

I like at 9:50 where the crane raises it's arm.  With all the crane arms up, it looks like it is saluting you as you pass.

It looks like a flood.  I wonder what the current is like in the Oakland estuary?

breadth

I've got containers on the Erving discharging in L.A.

i still think that the bay is the best harbor in the world. Thanks for letting me watch the navigation of it.

Another great video, thanks! Couple of questions: 1) In the phrase, "center lead aft," "lead" is a puzzling term because the tug behind the ship is trailing rather than leading. Does "lead" refer to the fairlead at the center of the ship's stern? 2) What sort of figure would a shipping company need to pay for the services of those four tugs?

Thank you for sharing this perspective! Would you use bow thrusters if available or just let the tugs?
