The 69 firing pin cocked when the bolt was closed and the 69A cocked when the bolt was lifted.

I would scope it with a vintage scope to determine its full accuracy potential.  A scope is a great advantage squirrel hunting and especially if you have older eyes.

The most accurate Winchester bolt-action, and best quality, was the model 52.  Even the Browning/Winchester 52 sporter reproductions were excellent.  My Browning 52 sporter is on the level of quality close to my 54-action Anschutz.  The 52 sporter will group in the low 0.3’s with the HP’s it likes.
