Maybe a 30 days of melodic banjo is on the cards? yes/no/maybe

I appreciate that you take the professional musician language and apply towards the banjo.

Beautiful music and cinematography … made the world feel right. Thank you for sharing this lesson…

I’m very glad to see this video. I learned to play by ear, and since I play a folk harp, it seemed natural to me to focus on picking out melody. My aged fingers are not up to thé Scruggs style, and learning clawhammer, well, I don’t have the time or energy to start over again. But this style works for me. I’m glad to know it’s a legit style of banjo playing. IVe assumed my playing isn’t  “real’ banjo style since it’s neither clawhammer of Scruggs style.

I love melodic banjo.  I love your style and the guy that does Space Banjo.  Very soothing and relaxing.  I just picked up a banjo and am trying to go from finger picking guitar to no pic finger picking banjo.  I just love the softer sound.

Glad to see you're doing a melodic series. I've been wanting some guidance on this front for a while. I can't seem to figure it all out myself. How long do you anticipate this series? Thanks, as always!

You are a fabulous teacher.  Thank you for all your videos.

Thanks for posting this. As a long time guitar player, this Bill Keith style helps me to understand where Jerry Reed was comin from on some of his guitar stuff, like Jerry's Breakdown. Looks cold at your place.

Beautifully filmed Eli, really loving the vibe of both the mellow playing and the visuals. The backlit shot of you playing as your kid spins their toy was beautiful.

I've always opted for clawhammer and two-finger because I'm not a fan of the fast Scruggs style bluegrass, but the pickless three finger with nylon strings has me really interested.

The first time I heard melodic and chromatic style banjo was in 1973 was played by Courtney Johnson with New Grass Revival.

Thanks. This is just what I was looking for.

Thanks for this!

I'm excited for this series, recently bought a banjo and would love to learn this style

absolutely beautiful, thank you

sometimes i think i have banjo dyslexia

This is really cool! Thank you!

Now we can all  become bill

i agree with you. I love the standard 3 finger style but the sound of it always apears so dynamic and fast and happy. Sometimes we just wanna vibe a little play something more slow and few the shape of the music if you know what i mean, clawhammer almost give that vibe and i love it as well but the melodic style make you more connected with the music in a cetain way. Can't wait to learn it!

I like to finger pick 3 finger many times playing bluegrass; mainly due to my laziness of putting on the picks.  Ha!  Also, I like the softer sound many times.  I also use a mute a lot; so I can stay married, but that sound is nice to me too sometimes.

Who made that gourd banjo?  Sounds beautiful.  Great playing also!
