My all time # 1 Taylor Swift song, everything about it just scratches an itch deep in my brain.

Ive never heard one person make the connection "red skies in the morning, sailors take warning" the first line is literally "when the morning came" and "looked up at the sky and it was maroon" she saw it coming

Lyrically this song and the way she compares the various shades of "Maroon" to the beginning of a relationship through to the end, was always brilliant to me. Production wise, this song could hit the soul so much deeper with more complexity layered through it. Excited to hear what you lay down!

Maroon was a grower for me. I didn't like it for a long time, because it sounded so simply, but the complexity is in the storytelling of this one I think, and the more I heard it the more I fell in love with the lyricism.

I love this song. I can just visualize the whole thing. I have heard it thousands of times at this point and get goosebumps everytime.

The fact that she stated six different shades of red in one chorus. (Burgundy, wine, blood, scarlet, maroon, rust) 🤯

I love how you do your reactions! A full listen with no stops, then a deeper listen. Yessss, subscribed. 🙌🏻

And to comment on your take, Taylor is an "English Teacher", as we know, but she uses musical tone as poetry in that last chorus.. like the shit has settled and this is what's left. 🥹

This one was definitely a grower for me. Great video!

My favorite song of hers and favorite album! I think all swifties have an album they can deeply relate to and connect to a certain time of their lives. That’s what is so special about her music.

I love the layers in the lyrics here and the double meanings they can be interpreted as the song progresses. You can find this in the name of the song itself too- Maroon. To maroon someone is to leave them stranded. "That's a real fucking legacy - to leave".

The way she compares the love they had to shades of red & how ultimately,  it stained/marked her (splashed your wine onto me... mark you left on my collarbone).  Also,  I think of this song as her maturing from her album titled "Red".

Most songs on Midnights have understated production, she has an album called Red, it feels like a more matured red. She was marooned (ghosted) and she’s doing it under the color metaphor.

Commenting because...support 😁 This is one of my faves on the album! Just a cool vibe, and as I said on the Short, I love the cadence she uses to sing the lyrics. Makes me want to go dancing in New York 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼

One of my all-time favorites.

I have to leave a second comment because I have listened to this song several times now, and it's really grown on me. Also, I love that when I search for this song on YouTube, Jase's reaction is like 3rd in the list. I hope more people find you that way. Back to the song though...
So I love the lyrics in the song, even though I didn't like it musically at first. The more I listen to it, the more I can't help but want to listen to it again. It kinda reminds me of Fortnite in that way. I did not like Fortnight at all the first time I heard it, but the more I listened, the more I loved that song.
What I like about Maroon is its triple entendre. Maroon can mean the color, of course, but also stranded and an idiot, and I think she implies each of these meanings throughout the song. I think the part where she says, " you are holding carnations you thought were roses", is calling him an idiot, also at the end, where she talks about him losing her. The song is incredibly poetic, which shouldn't shock me because she is an amazing songwriter, and I'll be damned if she doesn't nail the poetry in this one, too. Also I like how she starts the song out sounding happy and talking about her feet in his lap and them laughing like they are best friends then at verse two there is that key change and that little draggy sound in the music which plays into the lyrics where the page turns and: "How the hell did we lose sight of us again? Sobbing with your head in your hands". Man!, she is so good. I take back my original thoughts on this song. I like it.

I recently started following your content and suddenly you have became my favorite creator on youtube! Maroon is my favourite song 'cause in the post chorus she mentiones 6 shades of Red. Sorry if my english is not quite right, I'm not native.

It's a mellow song, but lyrically it is just soothing to me.

Am I sad you didn't absolutely love one of my top 5 in Midnights? Yes.
... Am I now hyped because the Riff Remix is gonna bang harder than ever?
... Also yes 😎🎸

One of her very best

This is my all time favorite songs of hers. You can hear her emotions as she singing it. You can feel that she was losing someone extremely important to her. This song is 4 years old and I still get goosebumps every time I hear it. This song is actually is one of her own favorite songs. You could tell by it was her go to while she was on tour.

What in the algorithm hell is going on that YouTube has hidden you from some of us!! Love the reaction and working my way back to watch everything else!!!
