Spent 1.5 hours watching a video about how nothing matters, took notes, and am now typing a comment about it. Sisyphus and I are basically the same person, except his boulder is a rock, and mine is a YouTube watch history that somehow keeps getting longer. The real nihilist move would have been to close the tab at 30 seconds. The fact that we're all here in the comments means Camus already won.

Only humans can be so obsessed with meaning we are giving meaninglessness a meaning. Or even multiple meanings. But on a cosmic level, I don't think there's nihilism or absurdism or any 'isms' at all. Things just simply are, and if the universe is not trying to attach meaning onto every single thing it sees or interacts with, maybe we should do the same too.

My feelings shut off like a light switch one day about 5 years ago.
I can't tell you how it feels.
That was a joke but it wasn't.
It's strange though. No real desires anymore. Everything is neutral and boring.
There's still a little bit of fear and sadness but not much.
It's there but it doesn't feel like anything.
I remember how it used to be.
Completely different.

This really hits home for me.

That's what's stopping me from taking life too seriously and the fact that we're all dying in the end.

The only thing that drags me out of bed in my advanced age is knowing there are cats outside needing to be fed. Bit of a conundrum for a night owl.
The only thing I can think of that gives my life any meaning having lived most of mine is the endless curiosity; wanting to know how everything and everyone works. Sort of a universe navel gaze.

Once I saw our predicament, I could not unsee.

In the end it`s doesn`t matter by Linkin Park

I think it was a development of mind when I realized the world is to “do as thy whilt is the whole of the law”

I think things matter, because I matter and that which resonates with me is meaningful. Others matter because they exist, etc, etc.

Smile and smile at someone, that way it makes everything better

Happiness on a higher level 😅. If you struggle with depression, this can finish you definitly

Spending a week at the grand canyon was quite a challenge

its almost like desire is because were survival meat bags 🤯

Be Nice. Absurd. BE.A.BUILDER

Nothing matters and that's what makes enjoying the small things so meaningful. I've been on my deathbed twice, stared into the abyss knowing in a couple days the infection would kill me and I would no longer exist and making it thru that taught me that meaning is unnecessary. Appreciate every second you get to be conscious and let that be enough.

53:00 almost thought this was going to be a Vessi ad.

Great theme and video, thanks. I don't think it's terrible that people are thinking like this, generally speaking, but it would be terrible if it goes on forever, and it's terrible if it continues getting worse. Everyone will end up as serial killers. But I doubt that's going to happen. I think it's actually the opposite because it gives humans a deeper understanding of life, each in his or her own way. I think it's good that young people have to go through these difficult times because they will develop into incredible adults as they continue developing throughout life, when they see their continual positive impact on the world, which is exactly what it needs. They will also be the ones to support the rest of us when we are old or sick and need help, so I want to thank them in advance and wish them well on my part. They have the possibility of an incredible future they can't even imagine now, or maybe they can, but they will be largely the ones who will shape it, as every generation has had its time. The main thing now is that they learn as much as possible and I'm not talking about academic things so much although they are very important as well, but also philosophy and morality, empathy, etc. and these hard times will never be forgotten because we are all learning so much and growing and if you are young and healthy, the quicker you learn these things the better, before it's too late because we really don't know what's going to happen next in our lives so take advantage of your time and observe and learn and grow. You have to filter and be able to focus on what matters, which your intuition and heart will always tell you and always have that thought in your mind throughout life: That we need to change the world for the better. That will never end. Everyone who will ever be born should think like that. As Marcus Aurelius once said in ancient times, "Your strength is revealed in challenging times; embrace difficulties as opportunities for growth and resilience. God bless everyone!

There is only one truth: nothing matters

Nihilism really hits hard these days
