Happy 3rd Birthday to Ghazal Studio

On the third anniversary of Ghazal Studio, I am delighted to share Part 1 of 2, featuring the incredible Muhammad Ali Sahab.

On his first-ever visit to the UK, Muhammad Ali Sahab kindly graced Ghazal Studio with his impeccable gayaki, beautiful compositions and distinctive musical expression.

Ali Sahab initially trained under his father, the acclaimed oboe player Ghulam Ali ji, and was deeply influenced by legendary artists including Ustad Mehdi Hassan Sahab, Parvez Mehdi Sahab and Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan ji.

He is particularly known as an exponent of “lambi saans ki gayaki” and for his mastery of “rachao aur asar wala gaana” — singing with depth, patience, emotion and lasting impact.

His singing combines sur, poetry, breath control, expression and tehraav, carrying forward the values of the great ghazal masters while retaining an identity that is distinctly his own.

Throughout October 2026, I will also be sharing each ghazal from this very special session separately, so you can enjoy and appreciate each performance in its own right.
