【Event Overview】
Since its formation in 1978, YMO has influenced musicians and creators around the world and left a significant mark on the history of Japanese pop music. Even after nearly half a century, their existence is often spoken of as a "legend." But what exactly is this "legend"?
This event will feature Koji Ueno, a former member of Guernica and composer/arranger who has worked on numerous projects with YMO members, and Yoshinori Sunahara, a former member of Denki Groove who was greatly influenced by YMO and later worked with the members.
Koji Ueno walked alongside YMO through the ages and knows their creative process firsthand. And Yoshinori Sunahara, inspired by YMO's music, has himself been a leading figure in Japanese techno/electronic music. From different generations and perspectives, they will discuss the true personalities of the three members, their creative processes, their musical innovation, and the influence they have left on future generations.
The interviewer will be Shun Fushimi, a music critic who covers and writes extensively about the contemporary music scene. While connecting the individual journeys of the three members, this presentation will not simply recount a myth based on the premise of "legend," but rather re-examine the background behind the creation of that word and the reasons why YMO continues to attract so many people, from a contemporary perspective.

上野さんが教授の没後に語られた、ラストエンペラーのサントラ制作時のエピソードがとても面白かったです。伊福部昭氏に甘粕や満州の音楽について聞いた話とか。
当時、ヴァンゲリスとかジャン・ミッシェル・ジャールとか冨田勲とかのいわゆるシンセサイザー音楽というジャンルに興味を持っていた中で、YMOのポップな感じは新鮮な驚きだった。
YMOは謎の東洋人という売り出し方をしていて、日本人のグループだと後で知った。
日本の音楽は歌謡曲、演歌、フォーク、ニューミュージックという自分から見ると湿っぽい音楽しかなかったので、YMOの登場は日本人でもこういう音楽ができるんだ、と嬉しく思えた出来事だった。
世界的なポップの頂点にいたマイケルにとっても、坂本龍一やYMOが放つ日本の先進的なシンセサイザー・テクノサウンドは、強い印象を残しており、会談の場でも大きな関心の対象となった。
・「Behind the Mask」坂本龍一が作曲。1980年代にマイケル自身がこの曲を気に入って歌い、アルバム『スリラー』への収録をめざしてメロディや歌詞の一部を整えた。
しかし、印税や版権の分配条件（権利配分）等が折り合わず、最終的にYMO-坂本龍一側が断った。
これが実現していれば、坂本龍一には巨額の印税（約3億円とも言われる）が入ったと言われる
上野耕路氏は野見祐二氏とともにオネアミスの翼の音楽を教授と担当しているんだよね。
最近、朝ドラの音楽担当に野見祐二氏の名前があったので、教授がその当時「野見くん、野見くん」とよく言ってたのを思い出した。
