im glad they replaced pre-recorded monotone glados in the first half of the game with the apocalypse announcer because those lines do NOT hit the same

Oh, fiddlesticks.

Portal 2 was all about GLaDOS conducting an experiment to determine why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch...

So fun fact that intro was actually fully available on YouTube. It was an alpha build of the intro for F-Stop the very first iteration of Portal 2.

For anyone curious, the sped up audio at 43:00 says "You have just experienced an Aperture Science Self-Esteem Field, which temporarily increases your reaction time.", hence the slowfield effects. Very cool.

I'm thinking the reason Chamber 12 got so much work put into it this early in terms of vegetation is because they used it in the Portal 2 Teaser from June 2010 (last shot, before the end title card), there's multiple versions of Chamber 12 from this leak that have increasing levels of vegetation and added "ruin" type details. Really fascinating to me.

Although notably, in the trailer, there's a portal-able wall added on the highest platform with the cube dropper and exit door, which was totally done so that they could do a clean transition to the title card.

that last one with the "YOU WIN" is 100% a portal 1 test map as thats how many of the portal 1 beta maps ended

15 crashes for full walkthrough is fairly stable for beta

41:56 for the last 16 years of my life, my phone's text tone has been "oooh what's in here" and when this sound played I thought it had muted the video because I got a text and I low key was so confused when there was no notification on my phone. crazy work

Alternate portal 2 ending where Wheatley and aquarium core get trapped in the aquarium together

@tbg8365 1 month ago (edited)

I wonder if the suction tube mechanic to defeat the enemy cores inspired the ending to Portal 2 proper, and maybe even "They told me if I disengage myself from my management rail I would die!" dialog

46:57 this level is originally from Narbacular Drop. It’s been referenced/recreated in a few different ways across the franchise, but that’s where it originated.
