The order matters so much: God first as our portion, obedience as the response — not the price

Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

Thank you, you make a difference

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isa 40:8

Thank you for posting it is a very powerful message. God bless you. 🙏🏽

Amen! God bless this congregation and thank you Pastor Gavin!

Gods word—it is an inexhaustible treasure, and without rival. I wish I would have understood that truth when I was young:
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work" [2 Timothy 3v16-17]

Hope does not disappoint ( Romans 5:5) ❤

Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Amen.

8:54...Likely refers to the following

Hebrews 11:10 "For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God"

Some other verses mentioning a 'city'

Ezra 4:20"There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them."
21 "Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me"

Nehemiah 7:4 "Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded"

Isaiah 62:10 "Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people."
11 "Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him."
12 "And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken"

Worth reading all Isaiah 62

Possibly some connections of these verses are relevant to the present time and likely the near (within 100 years?) future.

New Jerusalem is a busy city and big, really big!

“You are worthy to take the scroll

and break its seals and open it.

For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God

from every tribe and language and people and nation.

10 And you have caused them to become

a Kingdom of priests for our God.

And they will reignd on the earth.”

11 Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders.
12 And they sang in a mighty chorus:

Proverbs 29:18Where there is no vision, the people perish

Lamentations 2:9Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD

Jesus has John describe somewhat his throne as follows. Maybe the "rainbow" which surrounds him is somewhat foretold with the history of Joeseph and his 'many colored' coat.

The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow

Spurgeon mentions Kimhi"s description of "manna".

Sounds a bit like the 'staff of life', bread?

The trees in New Jerusalem provide food. Avocados I like and bread I really like. Sounds good.

The following AI generated history may be uncertain as some sources say Yahya supported Kimhi and records show Kimhi's work was used by translators of the KJV Bible.

Ibn Yahya Family: Yahya founded a dynasty that spanned Portugal, Spain, and Italy, producing many physicians, philosophers, and communal leaders

Relationship to Kimhi: While Yahya ben Yaish was a contemporary of the Kimhi family (David Kimhi lived c. 1160–1235), primary historical accounts focus on his political and military role in Portugal rather than theological or grammatical support for Kimhi's works. However, the Ibn Yahya family remained patrons of Jewish scholarship for centuries, including prominent figures like Don Isaac Abravanel.
