Join me as I paddle and fish my way alone across the boreal wilderness of Wabakimi.
This trip took place in late September and was my most remote and ambitious journey to date. With only a single other person encountered over 14 days, the isolation was real.
From haunting landscapes shaped by recent burns to pristine, iconic northern waters, outstanding fishing, and a fair share of challenges - this trip had a bit of everything.

I nearly gave up on editing this one, but I couldn’t bring myself to leave the trip undocumented. Thankfully, my main camera came back to life a few days in, and I had a backup lens with me. As a result, the footage improves quite a bit as the trip progresses.
Lots of lessons learned, but this ended up being one of my most memorable trips to date.
Also, this was my last trip with my Nova Craft Blue Steel Prospector 15. It has moved on to someone who will probably treat it better than I did, but I already half regret selling it. It was a great canoe for portage-heavy, lake-based travel. My next trip in the queue will have me paddling something new!
