edit: so there's A Lot of new people here now! please do keep in mind if you're arriving straight from Arcadia that this video was created Months before Arcadias marketing began, which some could consider "lore" :) i'll try to make a follow up to this after i make my video about their graphic novel, thank you for giving this janky project so much love ❤ worship

I really don't care what their names are. They provide us with great music and want to stay anonymous. The absolute LEAST we can do is respect that.

the first time I ever encountered sleep token, I always thought they looked like a bunch of creatures that escaped the SCP foundation and started making music

"Our verses are a token, crafted to magnify and embody the multitude of emotion that writhes in our subconscious. Sonically our voice is rooted in the resonation between the notes and your emotion. Take our hand"   Sleep Token

Celtic/Eldritch horror aside, maybe I am just a romantic, but their past albums reminded of this quote from Argentinian poet Jorge Luis Borges ¨ “To fall in love is to create a religion that has a fallible god.” Loving someone as a religion makes you put them on a pedestal and worship the ground they walk, the same devotion you would grant to a god, and because you almost see them as such, you are giving them the power to condemn you or save you,  and you stay on your knees praying it would be the latter.

Less than 5 mins into this video and im very quickly realising I've been spoiled by twenty pilots and their blatent lore confirming behaviors

“Out of the frying pan and straight into the funeral pyre”
Hahah, nice

A sales rep came into my place of work and recognised my ‘Ghost’ poster on the wall.
He immediately recommended ‘Sleep Token’ to me and I’m extremely grateful he did.

I love the way Vessel dances. I saw some comments saying he dances the way some people do in the privacy of their bedroom.

I imagine that the Baccante danced similarly.

I refuse to google their names. Thanks for not saying them😊

Vessel- was visited in a dream by an ancient deity" that he refers to as Sleep" due to its actual name being impossible to pronounce by modern humans.

Sleep" has always existed and is responsible for giving humans dreams and nightmares. Sleep" promised Vessel- glory and magnificence if he followed him/her.

Sleep" gives Vessel- dreams and visions, both beautiful and glorious as well as horrific nightmares. All of the songs deal with Vessel's- struggle with this toxic relationship with this deity" that he can only access in his dreams.

The songs can also be interpreted as a toxic relationship that Vessel- had with a past partner and all of the fallout from this traumatic experience.

Its entirely your discretion how you interpret the songs.

thank you for being a non toxic fan! my friend accidentally told me Vessels name, i told her, "No, hes Vessel, we dont say their names, just their alias" and she said she was sorry, but she didnt know

Okay so sleep token is just a band moon knight created to justify his theory that THE MOOON HAUNT US

Been listening to Sleep Token for a couple years and never really bothered to do a deep dive on them, glad to know I wasn’t really missing out on much lorewise XD

so this was definitely alot to unpack. i personally came across this band by total accident at a very low point in my life. and im glad i did. im still pretty confused on the lore but i appreciate you taking the time to make this video.

The intro is giving peak neurodivergance and now i am even more invested in listening bc i know for a dang fact this is gonna be good

Your comment about how not all songs are from Vessel's perspective is spot on I think. To me, Look to Windward, is from the POV of Sleep...or at least a god of some sort.

This helped me so much, I started listening to their music like 4 months ago and was confused about their lore and couldn't tell them apart when I attended their concert lmao, but this vid finally made me understand it all 😭🙌

I'm super late but I've never really looked at their lore before but the whole bits about their story is definitely interesting. The way I see it is that all of the members are seen as "vessels" meaning a hollow container to hold liquid (their feelings/emotions/trauma etc) is what's being contained and the "being" called "sleep" are the moments dormant until triggered making them remember those feelings and their offerings/rituals being their songs and performances are their "token" to pour some of their mental anguish out as a coping mechanism. It's definitely a more literal take on all of the key parts but that's the way I've interpreted it.

funny how in the graphic novel thing it says about him being on a shoreline staring out at a sea, then we get the look to windward lyric "now i know why i woke up here on the shoreline".
