Note that when I first say British Library I meant to say British Museum as I do later in the video.

It’s one thing to love a novel but another to learn and grow from a novel and this one did it for me!

I absolutely loved this book. The epic Tale with many stories and amazing characters. I love the whole consciousness around water. A very clever writer. The knowledge I learned as well wow. Love how the stories run like water which can run slow or fast, be stopped, lost, and how a drop can make a difference. Totally takes you to another place and makes you think of whats happening in the world through the characters tales.

The buzz around this book is astonishing.

Just reserved it at my library.  36 in front of me 😢. I loved The Island of Missing Trees.

I also recently 'gushed' about this brilliant book at my local book group.  Elif Shafak should be lorded as a giant in the literary world.  I have loved everything she has written.

I just finished the book this week.  As you are dealing with rain, I am here with ice all around my house.  A form of H2O which she did not mention in the novel.  I Lived the book and like you got list in the story.  It has been awhile since I have had the fortune of reading such a moving and interesting story.  Her writing is not preachy.  She brings up a bad situation and moves on.  Letting the reader fill in the gaps.  The sad lives of each of the characters does not break them.  They live in spite of it. Amazing how she was able to bring the three main characters together.  I loved the book! I too believe that rivers because of water have memories and will find it way back to its original path.

I suspected when you said epic and emotionally involved with the characters, that you just read Shafak’s book. I adored this book!

I already have the book and a ticket for a reading with her, and now I'm very much looking forward to reading it.

I am so excited to read this one! How wonderful to hear you discuss it.

The Island of Missing Trees is also wonderful. Same author.

Thank you for such an insightful review! I was a bit put off by the heft of this novel but it’s now shooting up the list of must reads this year! It’s going to be a busy Autumn!

I love her writing!! Elif Shafak has empathy for her characters and writes beautifully.
