Marion's World

In this late edition of the monthly Winter Garland makes I'm making a whole bunch of Sycamore keys! They were requested a number of times over the past few garland videos and I thought they would be lovely to do. Here are 3 versions from the same template. Felt, Fabric and Paper!
The little template is, as always, free to download via my shop.
The link to my shop is below.

I do have a Kofi account too if you'd like to donate something and are able. The link is below.
I keep my videos as ad-free as possible, so Thank you to everyone who helps to support my channel over on Kofi

Hello Marion 😊 I am the one from Norway who was so lucky to have met you at the festival of quilts. Thank you so much for taking your time and talk to me❤ what a lovely lady!! 💐

I do love all the small bits of nature that you show us how to create! The method for fly stitching the veins on the sycamore keys looks like the veining on dragonfly wings...another pattern i love.

The way I am having to sit on my hands to not immediately stop working and go and make these… you are amazing! Thank you for sharing❤

I love the way you get so tickled with yourself when you try something and it comes out right then you have to make a bunch more! ❤

These Sycamore Keys are so realistic! I used to live around Sycamores, but never saw seed pods. I do remember their lovely, earthy smell in the late summer, though. Thank you for the detailed lesson! I learned several new things today! 😊

What gorgeous seeds - my favourites as a child. Spent many happy times throwing them up in the air and watching them helicopter down. I shall definitely make some. Thanks for showing so many ways to try❤

So realistic! As kids we used to chase the helicopters and try to catch them… lovely memories ❤xxx

These maple seeds if you break them at the center and peel back each side of the seed, the center is sticky. As children, we'd stick each sticky side to the sides of our noses. Pinocchio or Cyrano de Bergerac was the game play. Taught that to my kids.. Now I just love the way they helicopter when they ripe and fall. Going to have to try this, I've never tried felting. Looks like fun! Thank you for sharing!

Another successful project for your garland. It was so lovely to see you at the quilt show you were with Kate . The coat that I made and was wearing was a huge success, all down to you I wouldn’t have attempted it without you. So many people stopped me to take photos and everyone started smiling when they saw me. Also people stopped me and I started chatting to them so many interesting people. So thank you for giving me the courage to make and wear my coat. Have a wonderful week ❤

Another simple and beautifully natural make! I really love this series you are doing for the Winter Garland as these are so accessible and reasonably quick to make. I also love the fabric ones and the way they all look dangling together. Thanks for all the options Marion! They are all super cute.😊

Hello Marion
Just to say you inspire me, the first video I since was textiles and tea with Kate from the the late homely house. I started following right away. I love doing many crafts also , your Raven was my favorite, because I love black birds. I'm also looking forward when I have time to watch all your older videos. I can go on about how your videos make me feel, I'm always telling people about you.

They are very decorative in a bunch and would be lovely hanging on a Christmas tree let alone your winter garland.

They look so real! We watched them as children flying in the breeze!🩷🩷🩷

Oh! these are so wonderful! You are so creative and talented Marion. I live that you use so many ideas from nature. So many fond memories of throwing the whirly birds ,as we called them, into the air and watching them spin. Thanks for this idea.

This craft takes me back to my childhood home which was surrounded with maple trees that my father planted the same year I was born. We made crafts with all kinds of natural materials. The maple seeds would make a kind of whistle when you blew on them a certain way. They make great fairy wings!
