Amery Browne challenges the proposed drinking-age increase during his Senate contribution on October 6, 2026. He questions the evidence behind restrictions on young adults and argues that Government should address children’s exposure to alcohol and enforcement of existing laws.
Brown contrasts young adults’ responsibilities with proposed limits on their choices, asks why similar alcohol restrictions are not being considered for parliamentarians and Cabinet, and cites U.S. research on alcohol’s effects on older adults. He also demands public consultation, referencing a 2019 statement he attributes to Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

. Some children take control of the classroom and overpower the teachers. The system over the years just failed to develop Orderly behaviors in the classroom and some parents made it difficult for teachers to address the situation. Everyone knows the adverse impact of alchohol on the human mind. It is a fact that teachers cannot control the behaviors of some children in the classroom. Therefore I support this law and any law which can change the behaviors and ills which currently pervades in schools and society.
