This channel is an island of brilliance in the vast ocean of YouTube misinformation and sensationalist bullshit. You even add so much info/context to videos like this one that were already solid. Thank you for being so incredible at what you do!
as an aerospace engineer, i take a lot of what you say about leaving massive margins of safety to heart in my work, because failure in an airborne vehicle spells death for its passengers. i think talking about these disasters does a lot for spreading awareness of how important safety is, and how “working loads” and “failure loads” need to be incredibly far apart, because even the best operator can’t save a bad design from failing
As someone who grew up in Siberia and whose father didn't get to work in Chernobyl only because he was not sufficiently connected (some of his classmates did instead) may I say - there are quite a few much worse outcomes than getting put on the first Siberia-bound train...
This video from the Chernobyl guy is great because it shows that the most critical failure at Chernobyl was not of any reactor system, but in a lack of information available to operators and a lack of safety culture in the Soviet nuclear power industry.
