Allen was my teacher at MI for 6 months. He was incredibly cool, encouraging and helpful in and out of our private lessons. Every lesson he brought a different vintage guitar for me to try. Thank you Allen!

Rick is hitting grand slams with every interview.  Allen is amazing and I am so happy to hear him talk about his musical upbringing.  His respect for the timeless players in the jazz, rock, fusion era is evident even as he himself has become iconic as well.  He packed 2 hours of stories into 47 minutes lol.  His playing is sublime.  Thank you Rick!

This is one of those interviews where as a guitar player you think you know stuff and find out very quickly you know very little.

Mr. Rick Beato and his channel are a historical treasure for musicians of this and the new generation. Thank you.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that knows about someone like Allen. Then he shows up on an episode like this, and I'm happy he's getting the exposure he so richly deserves. He's blessed with a beautiful and unique tone and playing style that is so melodic yet complex and funky. Just love him.

Finally, Allen Hinds. Such an underrated guitatist& musician.

You get guitar players then you get Allen Hinds. Just pure class. Allen is one of the few players that really make you question your ability on the instrument. Truly inspirational.

What makes this channel truly formidable, is not only that Rick invites all these great musicians, but also that - more or less - he asks them the same questions we'd like to ask. Thank you so much, Rick.

I LOVE his playing, his tone, phrasing, etc...I absolutely love this guy.

It doesn't get any more musical than Allen Hinds' playing. 100% magic.

YES!!! Allen should be famous worldwide. Monster musician!

Allen is not just a brilliant player, but a fantastic raconteur.  Great stuff, Rick.

"I don't care about mistakes. It's the music you make between the mistakes that matters" - what an absolutely astonishing quote from the man. I've been a fan of Allen's for years and was so happy to see him on here just chatting and picking. Brilliant!

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this amazing guitarist before. Thank you Rick for continuing my education

I'm one of the lucky ones who has had Allen as a teacher.  He's also a genuinely good guy.

He is such a magnificent Guitar Player. His melody, he dynamics his phrasing, his time, his endless ideas. I went to see him at the Baked Potato when I was visiting the US about 10 years ago. Travis was on bass. Phenomenal gig.

I’ve never heard of Allen Hinds before and OMG what an amazing player. I’ll definitely be putting him on my listen list in the car. Amazing.

I had the amazing opportunity to attend small workshops with Allen and Jon Herington during the pandemic and did enough outside of that with them to consider them friends. Both amazing guys. I also happened to play in the same club in Gulfport MS when I was in the Air Force as Allen - although we never crossed paths at the time.

I only watched the first 1/4 of this video before falling asleep last night. Amazingly I had an intense REAL vivid dream I was in some house in the country and Allen and a few other guys were there. He was showing me how to get the right touch on Self Portrait - it was SO real it was scary - I woke up and watched the rest of this.

Thank you Rick for another great interview and it's especially special that it's with Allen - he's overlooked in my opinion. And he's a very nice guy as well.

What I like about this is it's technically astounding while being tasteful and pleasing through out.

The efficiency with which he moves his hands is incredible. Huge crazy sweeps and his left hand hardly seems to move. Never heard the song before, but happy I have now.
