Remembering 7 October: For All We Lost gave us a chance to come together, in person and online, to remember those who were murdered, those taken hostage, and all those whose lives were changed forever that day. This was a deeply moving service of remembrance, reflection and hope.

The key address was given by Rabbi Yael Vurgan of the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, a central source of pastoral and spiritual support for residents close to the Gaza border who were bereaved, displaced or taken hostage.

We also heard testimony from Sharone Lifschitz and Magen Inon. Sharone’s elderly parents were taken hostage – her mother Yocheved was released, while her father Oded died in captivity. Magen’s parents, Bilha and Yakov, were murdered in their home.

The service was led by Cantor Zoë Jacobs, Rabbi Josh Levy and Rabbi Charley Baginsky, and featured contributions from Faith Minister Florence Eshalomi MP, Israel’s Chargé d’Affaires to the UK Christian Cantor, Rabbi Alexandra Wright and Dr Ed Kessler.
