And the cop in Day After Tomorrow is so into his authority that keeps wearing his impractical police hat even when venturing out into subzero weather.

Ruth has gotta be based on Harry Truman (not the president). He was the guy that refused to leave his home before Mount St. Helens exploded.

My dad hated the cop in Day After Tomorrow when we saw it for the first time

Stan from Volcano might have been an idiot but you gotta admire the fact he was willing to sacrifice himself in the most brutal way possible to try to make up for it. Dude melting in liquid hot magma always stuck with me for just how horrific it looked.

I like to watch Dante’s Peak with my Nan and remind her that other, better grandmas can walk in acidic water and that she should be ashamed that she can’t and that’s why we’d have not even come to rescue her.

Ruth was inspired by Harry Truman who refused to leave his home when warned that Mt. Saint Helens was gonna erupt. But his reason was less that he didn't think it was gonna blow and more that he had decided he had lived a long enough life and didn't wanna leave his home, even if it did cost him his life

Bro, have you seen Dante's Peak? Apparently not, go watch it for real and will see Harry's boss being more stupid while seeing the boat was not gonna make it, still she wasn't smart haha

You don't have to be a climatologist or survivalist to know you don't go out into sub-zero weather if you can as stated, "hunker down." Excellent video as usual!

I mean, the real douchbag in World War Z is the one that shoved a gun into a nerds hands expecting him to be able to safely wield it. Not everybody has experience and knows to safely handle a gun. And there were soldiers around tasked with PROTECTING the doctor....

Its not just in movies. People genuinely are far more stupid than you would ever think possible.

Paul is a dumber character in Dante's Peak than Ruth.
He tried to drive his car over the collapsing bridge only to backfire as everyone else got out and crossed resulting in Paul falling into the river dying with a Wilhelm scream.

Can we just say anyone that runs in a straight line from a very high object rather than to the left or the right?

@donaldherring2961 6 hours ago

Ruth ? One character. But the grandkids taking the car to go get her are some other bad choices.

Dante's peak, Volcano and Daylight - all 3 bangers from around the same time.

5:29 The cop was doing what he thought was best with the information he had. Not listening to some kid that he didn't know didn't out weight what he thought was best to try a save people. In the end, everyone who followed him made their own choice to trust the cop over Gyllenhaal.

i genuinely loathe when a plot hinges entirely on stupid people doing stupid things

You mentioned 28 days later but not 28 weeks later?! Don?! Kissing his zombie wife!?

Der Film aller Filme ist Flammendes Inferno 1974.

5:20 - it doesn't matter how close the boat was to shore....close doesn't count and it had no motor or paddles left and was actively starting to sink from the water it was taking one which would have compounded by disolving the inside and the outside. Whoever wrote this is stupid and shouldn't be allowed near sharp objects.
