i fell into fixing kids bikes in my street, started on my next door neighbours kids bike, who then started bringing his friends, now i fear the doorbell, the state on some of the bikes i've fixed is horrendous, i can't believe the parents let them out on them, example of 1 recently, both tyres cracked and perished, all brake and gear cables rusted, headset rusted and loose, bent derailleur, bad wheel bearings and this kid wanted to take it to the local pump track in that state.

As usual a joy to watch a gifted bike mechanic doing what he does best.  I have learnt so much just watching these videos. I was fine on old British motorcycles but very hazy on bikes - now not so much!!

Always a good watch no matter what you’re working on. Sound and production really excellent nowadays investing in that kit well worth it  👍.  Happy days 😁

You can find bikes like this on any given day strolling around the inner suburbs of Melbourne. Often missing some of the better parts and left propped against a tree. A keen teenager could build up a decent bike from watching these videos.

I gifted my nephew with a bike for his 14th birthday. It was an hybrid from the 90s (Atala HBR), i totally redid it with a vintage Shimano 105 set (including the hubs) and cool stuff and crap like matching red color accessories. It was a SWEET build.

Within the first 3 months i had to replace ALL the housing  (because his usual method of disentangling his bike from the "pile" of bikes is to yank it) and replace 3 spokes because  he keeps smashing into walls.

NEVER AGAIN.

My local bike shop states on their website that they won't work on your bike unless it's clean.
