The small bales seem very accessible, It’s rather hypnotic watching the bales get wrapped. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the demonstration.

That's awesome! I'm sure there will be a good market for those.

you just need to weight them after fermentation , and sell it accordingly and take into consideration the price of the plastic and cord aswell , perfect for small farms with just a few animals if you have those around there it should sell fast , you can ask a little bit more for kilo of silage because of all the labour and some people dont want big quantities

Wrapped hay has less dust.
It's great in humid climates like here in Wales, wherd we get so much damp in winter, hay can spoil even inside a barn.
It's handy to have as well if the weather is changeable. You can bale early and wrap for haylage if you're caught out.
Wrapped rounds go for £8-10 each here and cost around £2 in net wrap and plastic wrap.
My bales are 22-25kg.

The nutrition value of haylege of hay is dramatic. Even maintaining most of the nutrients is a big benefit. The more you save the less grain has to be bought. And if selling it brings a much better price.

Cant wait to get the mower and round baler 😊 Cant say I'll ever get the wrapper though.

Thats à neat little machine! We make a LOT of small square haybales which we sell mainly to horseowners. We also make hayledge (?) in big roundbales for our own cowes and we also sell some, mainly to farmers. I see a market (in Sweden that is) for small rapped bales, many horse owner ask since the usually have smaller stables and problem with place to have them.
Funny, its about the same price for a squarebale in Sweden, 40 kronor about 4 dollar and change!

I’ve been looking into the mini rounds but I’m more looking towards net wrapping instead of twine and the wrapper that was pretty neat and you might be surprised at who might want wrapped dry hay

Watched you bail yesterday. Today I watched you wrap. Pretty cool. Here in N. FL I'm paying $9 for a square bale from the co-op. I would think your round bales would go for about the same as the square ones.

I have been looking into this type of equipment. What I have been told that the market for the mini rounds are for the goat and sheep farmers. I was also told that they can by price from 10 to 20 dollars per.

I've seen the small round bails go for about the same price as square bails. I would check on market place that's what I do before I sell anything.

I do a few hundred bales of baleage for our few cows. They need more wrap, I have this wrapper, the stopper stops at about two full layers, I do three layers, years ago that's what I had recommended to me. Once one layer is totally wrapped I pull the lever so the wheel drops back down and let it go. Also, I can't get their wrap and north of the border getting 12" is near impossible but my local farm places have 20" wrap, I've rigged up a system, bypassing that unwinder, to use it 20" but I wish the unit was built to accommodate wider wrap.

Now it up to someone to think of how to min roll and wrap ,,just like the big wrapper bales,,then it would be great, I sure lot of hobbies farm would buy them, so the company that made the min roll please make the plastic wrap on your machine as well.

@joesears584 3 months ago

Will that wrapper accommodate a square bale

Do you have a moisture tester for your hay? Dry is 15% to 18 % moisture. For haylage bales you want a minimum 35% moisture and upwards of 50% moisture. I would check your moisture content first before wrapping. Your bales are covered in the barn so I would say you are wasting money. If you plan on holding on to it for more than a year then I guess wrapping is a good idea. Nice little machine though.
