At the beginning of the ‘77 season there was almost as much hype for the Yanks acquiring Gullett as there was for Reggie. He had a solid 14-4 record, but was plagued by injuries. Guidry started the season as a reliever. The intended staring rotation at the beginning of the season was, Gullett, Hunter, Figueroa and Dock Ellis. They also had Ken Holtzman. Torrez was added early in the season.
