I really like the part where you go into dark woods to avoid polish people just to find out you're in poland, truly a plot twist

The Tree in Darkwood took control of a radio tower that is still on. This is how the tree makes people hallucinate by sending out frequencies that literally rot human brains. You can find all the skull birds in this area.

The fucking sad thing is recently it came out that acid wizard is going to indefinite hiatus as a game development company with their recent game now in limbo while they take a break. For a three person team they’ve made a fucking masterpiece and I hope their next masterpiece will be out when it’s ready.

the devs gave me a copy after i sent them an email just telling my experience of plying a pirated demo when i was just 15 years old. It was the most fun and shit filled pants ive ever experienced. apparently if you send kind words to their email they send you a copy. im 23 now and i will forever love this game . i dont play it offend due to the fear it gives me but  i always have it with me and when i do i make sure that everything's right so i can enjoy it to the max. im talking about full on playing in the dark phone turned off earbuds sinked deep in, full volume and at least 4-5 hours fully into it.  i get back on to it and that intro echos through my speakers and just gives me such a trip.  it one of those game that i can never abandon. an art style thats unforgettable and an ambiance that is just one of a kind. i hope people show more love to these games. i hope they continue to make more projects its been such a while since ive heard of them. if the devs read these comments i want to say just thank you. you made something really great. i think you should be proud that you not just made and released a product but see how you putting your love and dedication for a proper game. thank you for giving me something to play while growing up as well. it was very difficult to find or pay  games online in my country . i wil forever cherish this game, forever be inspired to reference you in my works. i always admire and hope to make something just as good as this game. thank you to the devs of acid wizzard.

29:08 it's more common to think of the possibility that rather than someone shooting the wolfman, the wolfman shot someone and took their jacket instead

i can confirm this game has the darkest woods ever, 10/10

I wanted to point something about the games lore, so spoiler alert:

One of the things about your character is that you are in fact a soldier, you're part of polish especial forces unit, wich were there to control and study the woods, this especial force was called the outsiders by the locals, and the relations between the two were really bad, given that the outsiders were the only ones capable of going out of the forest through underground tunnels that were constructed in various parts of the forest, one of this ones is the one that you use to get of the swamps, and the other one is in the radio tower, so the locals hated them because they had the power to get everyone out but they didn't, mainly because of fear of getting infected wich is another thing. But like I was saying your character has a the 21 key because he was part of this especial unit (he more than probably knew the locals), something else is that this also makes sense given that he is cable of crafting bandages, explosives, traps, etc, and also why he is capable of using weapons. The other thing is that the soldiers used NBC suits, when they were in the forest, one of this suits is seen in the end part when you are in those field there is an scarecrow wich has your NBC suit, and that's also where you got your clothing. And the last thing is that before the games begins you and your unit were patrolling or exploring an area, but you got attacked by savages or maybe something else, but this attacked overrun your unit, you get injured to, and you were the only survivor, after that you steal the scarecrow's clothes and you go into the woods, but you fall into the ground and faint because of your injuries and then the doctor finds you and steals your key, and then the game begins. I hope that this can be understanded, because English isn't my main language, well this is all. I also wrote this because i wanted to depeen a bit more about the protagonist of the game, there is obviously a lot more about the character and the polish especial unit, but this is the most important parts

As a Polish man I see this as an absolute win

I love watching let's plays of Darkwood. YouTubers are generally scared shitless, but the most dread they get when Chapter 2 appears.

Yes, this game is incredible.  One thing that I don't think you really touched on is just how descriptive and disturbing the writing can be.  I remember this one moment where you speak to someone who's head was all soft from the infection of the woods and he starts... idk, scratching his head?  And moments later he just puts his finger through this soft spot in his head, and the description of the sound and sights it made when part of his head collapsed is just so disgusting.  Overall he writing really paints a vivid picture of how far gone the people are, both mentally and physically, and it's just sickening and terrifying at the same time.

One thing that people usually are unaware of is that when you die (even on Normal), you don't just lose your inventory, but also every enemy you had killed disappear and new enemies spawn in around the WHOLE map.

It is not mentioned in the game but is a really nice touch and it's something that once you realize, the whole game becomes infinitely more terrifying (especially if you are about in the Old Woods...)

Probably my favorite horror game of all time. The vision system where you can't see things behind walls create such crazy tension, and the fact that the gameplay forces you to explore areas with these conditions- it's just amazingly good horror! For being an indie game, the gameplay and animation is very smooth and satisfying.

I tried darkwood multiple times before finally beating it. Its probably the only game thats ever genuinely scared the shit out of me.

So simple, yet so effective. One of the best horror games ever made, honestly. RIP Acid Wizard

The game is the only game to actually leave me traumatized after playing it. It never gets easier to play, though I mean you may understand it the more you play. Its the unpredictability of the game that what really gives it the horror aspect of it, not to mention the art and extremely well done soundtrack to enhance the feeling of loneliness and desperation. I legitimately love it for that, but refuse to touch it again for that reason.

The wedding bit is terrifying since where I grew up, there was an urban  legend that included widow brides. They would dance and mumble, said to be bad luck if you were to hear/picture them.

One of my favorite moments in this game was walking out into the day time in the early game, having everything start to get dark. Not only did everything start to get dark, there were these weird anime speed lines moving towards the character, and I felt like I was about to get attacked by something huge and all-consuming.

Nope, it was raining. I had a nice laugh at that point. And then got attacked by a pack of wild dogs.

The delving into Dark Woods to avoid other Polish dudes checks out. I was as student rep for three years and oh boy there was a lot of issues with Polish students getting hate, but 100% always from other Polish students, this video explains so much for me at last 😂

Also great video about a great game. Excellent work sir.

Both Darkwood and your channel really need more love!

love the part when your character says “its darkwood time” and darkwoods over everyone, truly a great game
