Recently Richard from LER tested this scope concluding that it's perfectly usable. I must agree and I figured I'd demonstrate what things I use it for and what limitations bother me in it. Overall I fully recommend this scope to all beginners, especially since it's the only affordable scope that actually works.

Like you, I have a FNIRSI 1014D oscilloscope with firmware 3. I also own a £500 touchscreen Rigol oscilloscope with lots of features, but I still use my 1014D for quick and accurate measurements.
I've now made mine fully portable by adding a built-in battery. Running it from the battery completely eliminates power supply noise, which is a nice bonus.
The way you explained the SMPSU was excellent. You're absolutely right that it's easy to damage an oscilloscope when measuring mains voltages on live equipment. However, with the isolated FNIRSI 1014D, that risk is greatly reduced.
Well done again, and please keep making honest videos. I can remember back in the 1980s in our Service Dept when an oscilloscope with far fewer features than our 1014D—such as an analogue Hameg—would cost hundreds of pounds. Those were the days! RCF
