One of the Worst Takes on "Godzilla" Ever

On January 29, 2024, a YouTube channel called Doktor Skipper uploaded a video titled “Godzilla Doesn't Work In America…” and received a ton of backlash for it on Twitter. Being in the general circle of kaiju Twitter, I figured I would watch it with an open mind and it pains me to say this but this is a poorly made video with terrible pacing and little to no research actually being put in.

I don’t want anyone watching this to go and harass Doktor Skipper. I’m not even mad at the guy. I just want him to do more research and to have a better grasp of what he’s talking about. And if you’re watching this Dok, I just want you to know that I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed...

''Godzilla is public domain in the US''

Meanwhile in Austin Powers:
-''Run, It's godzilla!''
-''It looks like Godzilla, but due to international copyright laws - it's not.''

Dr skipper saying Godzilla is public domain is the most foolish thing I've ever heard monster Island buddies made an entire video on Godzilla lawsuits

The weirdest part of the video to me is when he says the mutos were a representation of Japan and that Godzilla is a representation of the US. Not ONCE in the movie are the mutos connected to Japan and it’s just kinda weird how he kept mentioning it

I didn't think I'd see a Godzilla soyjack today...or ever...

When he says that people don't know Godzilla originated in Japan, I knew he had no idea what he was talking about.

Mf says that 98% of the movies suck ass when he only watched probably 3 of them

"america made godzilla into a hero" wasn't the first american made godzilla movie the 1998 one where he was an ACTIVE force of destruction???

Now even I know that Godzilla is not in public domain. Toho’s gonna be holding onto him for years from now.

The entirety of Skippers video can be perfectly summed up with this one meme:

"That's a nice argument senator, why don't you back it up with a source?"

"My source is that I made it the fuck up!"

Bro people have said that "if you think Godzilla is scary, you should see his lawyers"

Ever since Minus One came out these fake ass Godzilla fans been bashing my boy MV Godzilla in the head because they watched a Japanese Godzilla movie for the first time.

Jared Krichevsky (the creature designer for Godzilla x Kong) said they have to get Toho’s approval for any Godzilla designs they come up with. He’s most definitely not in the public domain.

I’m glad people are coming together to not tolerate the lack of information that people present in videos. Because it’s something that runs rampant in other fanbases.

6:27 ain’t gonna lie, I already called out he prolly doesn’t know Shin Godzilla even exists, and him using footage from it while SPECIFICALLY talking about Minus One steadily makes me mad

>doesnt like godzilla
>makes video on godzilla
>puts all effort on ADHD editing
>no effort on research
reminds me of game theory's TF2 vs overwatch video, a video that was very poorly researched but full of edits and jokes by people that barely even played both games

He said that he doesn't even like Godzilla.

Okay, then, WHY DID YOU EVEN MAKE A VIDEO ACTING LIKE YOU HAD ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT GODZILLA IN THE FIRST PLACE!?
