EPISODE #215 -
Here we go, you guys asked for it in my last video so here it is... this is the infamous Hell Ride in Melbourne, the biggest, craziest and most carnage group ride I've ever done. Things get WILD!
This ride is full of gas from the start, they don't muck about... swapping off turn at super high speed and hitting every lump in the road with pure aggression... this ride should have a restraining order!

I can’t get over how smooth that tarmac is.

Pro's dont have to deal with traffic like that. Some of those situations couldve gone pear shaped.

FYI - that "elbow flick" from red jersey guy near the end isn't your typical give a chop out/roll over ... it's a double elbow flick which either means he's changing big to small which prevents your front wheel from hitting his rear OR, (as you saw) he's about to get off the saddle and launch a nuke. Nice vlog 👌

@19:35 you looking back and showing us everyone riding was 100% worth it. it gives us the normal people a chance to see how dope it would be to be in an intense ride like that ! Thanks for suffering a bit and showing us lol

it's like they're all trying to out sprint each other. You did well.

Many moons ago, my first Hell Ride featured Baden Cooke, about 6 months after he won the Green Jersey at the Tour de France....was wild! Was great to think I was in a group ride with a pro I was watching on TV! One of the great things about cycling! (I didnt last long 🤣🤣)

I think the big-ish guy at 21:57 with "LCC" on his bum is Tom Leaper. He's a monster. He was a pro for a while about 25 years ago -- I think with a Pro Continental team -- and represented Australia in two Road World Champs (2000 and 2001). He's now 50, but still.....

I used to use the ride for training, I can remember watching the Victorian institute of sport riders putting us in the gutter at 45km per hour uphill before the turn around point.
Another day we accended the second last hill before turning onto Nepean hwy.
I looked down at my computer we were doing 55kmper hour uphill !
At that time I looked forward to hear a former green edge pro matt wilson casually chatting to Robert tigello at 55 holy shit they were fit !
this was before anyone was riding carbon fibre bikes or disc brakes. mostly aluminum and steel bikes.

As a Sydneysider, I can't believe they roll out so late. In Sydney, the latest bunch ride leaves at '6.30 - most at 6am.

I’ve heard about the hell ride, negative media coverage and a bunch of people who obviously didn’t have what it takes to do that ride with the big dogs

@17.45 surprisingly no one got cleaned up crossing double lines past the bus and thru the intersection cutting in front of the white car....obviously no lessons learnt from a number of years ago when a elderly pedestrian was struck and killed @ Mentone on the exact same ride.
