Before You Relocate to Africa, Avoid These Costly Mistakes

Thinking of relocating to Africa or Nigeria? Before you make that big move, please watch this video.

In this video, I share some of the biggest mistakes I believe many diasporans make before relocating to Africa — mistakes that can cost you financially, emotionally, and mentally.

We’ll talk about:

✔️ Why I don’t believe you should remove your safety net abroad
✔️ Why you need to drop the “messiah complex” before relocating
✔️ Why I personally think building before relocating may be a better option (if you’re sure where you want to settle)
✔️ Health emergency planning and why older people should think carefully about healthcare
✔️ Why keeping your travel documents updated is so important
✔️ The importance of planning your relocation strategically, not emotionally

Please remember: these are my personal opinions based on observation, experience, and practical thinking.

If you are considering relocating to Africa, retiring in Nigeria, or moving back home from the diaspora, this video is for you.

I’d love to hear from you in the comments:

What mistakes do you think people make before relocating to Africa?

This was such a brilliant video. So many valid points. When I was unmarried and lived with my parents, any time we would travel to Nigeria, my dad would look for the most dented taxi, with windows that require physical support (pulling upwards) while winding up. He would hire it for a period of time, especially for highway or intercity travel. He would always warn my younger siblings who had a subtle oyibo accent to never speak outside, but to whisper whatever they want to his or my mum's ears. Funny thing is back then, insecurity was nowhere near as bad as it currently is.

You're so authentic and unrehearsed. Love it. Yes, this video really reminded me of the realities people will face relocating to Africa. I am also in the process of relocating with my two young children and I am a bit apprehensive about their safety and the school system there. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and genuine experiences.

This returnee vlog has been amazing. 1. Your son will be ahead, of the academic curve, because he has been taught in Britain. 2. The returnee should be in a job, instead of having a company, because Nigeria has oil resources. 3. The company can be a second income source. 4. The export and import of goods, will suit a returnee.

This video is deep revealing. Don't put yourself as a messiah, that gets to me.
Remember they kill the first messiah.
