I hope every foreigner considering a relationship in the Philippines watches this video, because this is exactly the kind of cultural and financial expectation you need to understand BEFORE getting married. I completely disagree with the idea that marrying a Filipina somehow means you have accepted responsibility for supporting her entire extended family. You marry your spouse because you love her and want to build a life together; you did not marry every parent, sibling, cousin, aunt, or uncle along with her.

Helping family voluntarily is one thing. Being expected to provide money simply because you’re the foreign husband is something completely different, and nobody should try to dress that up as love or obligation. Foreigners need to establish those boundaries early and make absolutely sure their partner understands them before marriage. Watch this video carefully and know what you’re potentially getting into.

Yes Marian i agree with u. I'm fr Malaysia.The big contrast between Filipina & M'sians on money is, filipinos want it for survival while my people want it for status & greed. There r very few of my people poor like so many filipinos & yet we want more, such is the mindset of my society....its common excuse being "ambition & security".
On sayin this, i'm not surprise if i get many objections & critics fr my people.  # i'm not a typical M'sian as i'm of mixed chinese borneo ethnic,  my westernised upbringing & my travel experiences abroad.  
Unlike a pure malay or chinese very proud & defensive of his ethnicity,  i don't.  I see myself & others as simply,  universal humans.
And my favorite song is John Lennon's  Imagine,  for its beautiful lyrics❤😃

Marian, I do so enjoy your videos, but your videos, like so many other people from your country, totally focus on what the man needs to be, needs to do, how he must act, etc. etc. etc.  Quite frankly, and as you like t say "honesty", it is videos like this that keep me away from going down this path of meeting Filipinos. I could easily afford to have a wife, treat her well, and be responsible for family obligations.  That is what you all cover.  What you never cover is the perspective from the man's point of view.  What adjustments must the woman make.  If it is all one way (man adjusting to woman), I can't subscribe to that as I also have needs and desires, and at my age (75), I don't have another 50 years to enjoy life.  So, what is it I would get from this relationship in terms of adjustments on her part so we can together share what life I have left?  And, how does the Filipino adjust to the fact that I can't do all the things I used to in the past, and she is young and still "full of life". Then, of course, there will be hard times.  Will she need to become a full-time caregiver for me - I hope not, but it is possible.  How will she adjust to the day in the not-too-distant future that I leave this world?  I do wish some of you that post these types of very good and very helpful videos reverse your thinking and answer from the man's perspective.  Thank you.
