nothing beats an hour long uncarley video about a topic i am knowledgeable of on a molecular level

Haymitch’s slow clap at Snow is gonna be the equivalent of Katniss and Lucy Gray bowing, I’m calling it right now.

The fact that he actually did end up being the last person reaped for the Hunger Games wraps everything up so nicely

Re: gumdrops

Haymitch mistakes them for the pack he got her on reaping day, thinking she must have dropped them. Lenore assumes he brought her new gumdrops. They don't discuss it or look at them closely because the emotions of seeing each other are too high, so it isn't until Haymitch gets a better look that he realizes that these aren't the ones he bought

One of the most harrowing moments in the book for me was the train back to 12 getting delayed as they load "the other tributes" on and Haymitch has to just sit there the whole ride back with his dead friends. Actually sickening to imagine that, especially if you think about how if they hadn't been 'held up' he might have made it home in time to save Ma and Sid...

33:36 'we live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings.'
-Ursula K. Le Guin

I don't know why, but when I read Sunrise, Wyatt's death hit me so hard. That poor fucking kid; it's very much implied that he had very little love in his life, from his family or anyone else, and he just. Dies, unceremoniously, in the opening bloodbath, to keep Lou Lou alive- this girl he doesn't even know who's just as much of a victim as he is who is being forced to impersonate a girl he does. And Haymitch and Maysilee barely even mourn him, because they can't. It breaks my fucking heart. These kids will live in my heart forever. I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about them.

42:36 "So president show Snows up" OUR FAVE LINGUIST RIGHT HERE YALL

Your comment about the Covey names at 13:17 made me realize: the younger Covey generations all have colorless names (Lenore Dove, Lucy Gray, Maude Ivory) but the older generations we meet in the books have more colorful names (Tam Amber, Barb Azure, Clerk Carmine). And in the books they explain that when the covey were first rounded up, the capitol basically committed a mass slaughter and killed a bunch of them. Maybe the younger generations having less colorful names is a reflection of them losing half their people and being trapped in District 12.

One lines that kills me from the book is when Maysilee says she’s never going to see herself grow old (like her grandma) and Haymitch also never sees Maysilee grow old bc Merrilee never makes it past 41 since she dies in the bombing of 12

suzanne wasn’t playing with the deaths in this one… her mind is so sick

Pronouncing Clerk Carmine differently every time you say it is sending me

Geese aren’t exactly known for a sweet, friendly temperament, so having a bunch of geese as pets is kind of funny. One of my earliest memories is getting chased by geese on my grandpas farm lol

for the movie, i am fully expecting them to bring back woody harrelson as a cameo for the epilogue, but i also don't want any press about it, like if they do, i don't want them to say anything at all, i need them to pull an andrew garfield in no way home, where we all know he's in it but he denies, denies, denies, so i can act surprised at the cinema lmao

i JUST realised hearing you say it that wellie's death is a direct parallel to rue's death. katniss leaves her to go blow up the career's food at the cornucopia and rue is killed while katniss is away not protecting her, and the exact same thing happens with haymitch and wellie. he leaves her to go blow up the cornucopia and comes back to her getting killed.

Lucy Gray - Lucy Gray by William Wordsworth
Lenore Dove (grey) - The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
Maude Ivory (white) - Maude Clare by Christina Rossetti
Barb Azure (blue) - Barbara Allen by unknown
Clerk Carmine (red) - Clerk Saunders by unknown
Billy Taupe (Beige) - Billy Boy by unknown
Tam Amber (yellow) - Tam Lin by unknown

That’s all their names, the corresponding Ballads, and a simplified description of their colors

surprised you didn’t mention Haymitch watching Lucy grays tapes and thinking about the fact that she’s a covey girl, and that he sees young Snow behind her wondering if he had his own covey girl, also Snow talking about Lenore Dove to Haymtich and joking about how “the covey girls are a mystery, that’s half their charm”

did i read this book already? well, yes. am i going to watch carley summarize it all to me anyways? well, yes.

ralph finnes and jesse plemons as snow and plutarch is going to be so iconic
