Epic announced that they would be deprecating blueprints in UE6 at the State of Unreal presentation. You guys have been asking me if it's still worth it to learn Blueprints or to switch to another engine. I want to share my honest thoughts on where this puts me and the channel moving forward.

There's no way epic will screw over it's entire dev community. If they don't have some sort of visual scripting language for verse, they are literally committing corporate unaliving. The community has spoken up about this a ton and it's pretty clear how everyone feels. I don't think Epic can ignore this!

BP's were the defining factor for me actually taking game dev seriously, without them I would never have moved past the dreaming phase or 3d modeling . Everything I did in UE was down to BP'S

imma stick to UE5 like that japanese soldier who hid in the jungle and still fighting ww2 until 70s. Imma learn more C++ to add more stuff need to the engine that i need. And if Godot and Unity getting better i may switch . FUCK all those AI slop that they will push on UE 6

While the implementation of AI into Unreal was inevitable, I am not going to move away from Blueprints any time soon. Though I am for utilizing some kind of agent to help with construction of blueprints, I am not comfortable handing my entire project over to an agent that is going to output code I cannot, and will not, be able to read. So at this current time, I just won't be moving to UE6

I have a feeling a lot of studios will stick with UE5. I know personally I will be. Hell, it actually gives me a reason to customize and add my own features to the engine.

I loved unreal, on my learning journey I personally didn't really learn or utilize blueprints I was focusing on C++ but with learning that they are planning to mainly focus on their programming language, Ive decided to move to unity since I wanna make low poly and stylized games anyway

As a programmer who prefer coding i think blueprints are goated and removing it would be a dumb mistake. Blueprints are a good interface to abstract complexe c++ code and made workflows more easly.

For those who are not programmers or people who use unreal as a hobby, like me, blueprints open this world to me. Is imposible for someone like me, programing without blueprints. So probably is the end of my journey with unreal engine

I feel like removing blueprints in the future would be going backwards.
If blueprints wouldnt exist yet, it would be a great invention to visualize AIs workflow in such a way, you can fix stuff easy.
Blueprints are the way to go.

Im guessing these all came from expedition 33 getting 9 awards at the game awards last year and they have made about 70-80% of their game with blueprint. So now they want only hardcore programmers to be able to build games from now on. Im sticking to ue5 thank you very much
