Jeff Bennett made a really good voice impression of the late Robert Stack when playing as Ultra Magnus in Transformers Animated.

I still love the fan idea that Ultra Magnus could/should have been Optimus in life support armor. Rodimus would still be leader but Optimus would stay on as advisor passing on his wisdom.

Those high shoulders are way too iconic

I fw the white inner robot a lot, to me it sells the idea that he's Optimus Prime's brother which is a headcanon I like.

Prime was my first indication too the character so the prime design is my favorite

1:51 Thew: "hm that could be a good name for an unboxing series"

Some context for the Magnus at 14:07. In the ROM crossover comic, Shining Armor, Starscream makes an alliance with the Dire Wraiths in an attempt to steal an energon synthesizer. Ultra Magnus (who a load-bearer named Convoy took up the role as while Minimus Ambus was recovering from unspecified wounds), Bumblebee, and Sky Blast (a cross-continuity plant of the Armada Mini-Con) pursued them. Towards the end of the arc, the DW leader double-crosses the Decepticons and possesses Ultra Magnus in an attempt to turn the tide of the battle in their favor, but failed to realize that he was only possessing the Magnus Armor itself and had little control over Convoy, who sacrificed himself to take down the DW's.

Linkara, in his review of Transformers the Movie, said that instead of Optimus dying early in the movie and giving the matrix to Ultra Magnus, Ultra Magnus could’ve instead been an upgraded Optimus like Galvatron was to Megatron.

Fun fact: Sentinel Prime was originally going to be Ultra Magnus in DOTM. He also had a gold and silver finish.

Ultra Magnus is so badass, being second in command of the Autobots of course.

20:18 Harrison ford voice Ultra Magnus yes he would be a good voice for him in movies if they didn’t cancelled transformers one sequel and they put Ultra Magnus and Harrison Ford voice him and that’s fine or maybe a live action movie

Bro I get you on that "White Optimus Prime" bit! FINALLY someone understands me!

6:31 i mean Overload was named Ultra magnus in japan

I don't know if you do requests, but here's mine. Can you do a video about flaimwar? She's one of my favorites.

G1 IDW Prime and Foc Are My Favorite Ultra Magnus Designs

7:20 I do like the Cybertronian mode from TFA Magnus too.

Excellent! Count me in on one of these, especially if its Animated themed!

In loving memory of Robert Stack

Back when I was younger, I didn't have access to Transformers outside of some very late G1 stuff like Micromasters and wasn't able to see the cartoon, so the only exposure I'd really had was the 86 movie, and for some reason Magnus really stuck to me, to the point where when RiD Magnus came out, I was all over it. Looking at it objectively it's not the greatest toy, more like a suit of armor for Optimus that happened to have a robot mode, but I have a lot of fondness for it anyway (the Haslab update was very appreciated)

As for favorite version, I can't help but go with the G1 cartoon version/SS86, though CW is pretty good too (the shoulders on mine are really loose though) and Missing Link is a lot of fun
