This anime recap follows Handa-kun, a high school student who is convinced that everyone in his school hates him. In reality, the opposite is true: he is incredibly popular, and his classmates are obsessed with him. This fundamental misunderstanding leads to constant comedic situations where Handa's attempts to act normally are misinterpreted as cool or mysterious, further fueling his growing "fan club."

Key themes and events from the story include:

The Persistent Misunderstanding: Handa constantly assumes he is being targeted for bullying or that people are annoyed by him, while his peers are actually trying to support or befriend him (0:00 - 2:44).
The "Handa Force": A group of students (including Aizawa and Kondo) forms to "protect" and follow Handa, often stalking him under the guise of helping, which only adds to his paranoia (3:15 - 4:44, 31:00 - 32:55).
Social Entanglements: Handa unintentionally influences others, such as Rio, a handsome model who feels threatened by Handa's natural charm and eventually decides to emulate him (4:46 - 6:00), and Dash, a track runner seeking a rematch due to a past loss (18:41 - 20:04).
School Events: Whether it is a class rep election (2:45 - 4:45), a cooking class that ends in a fire (8:05 - 9:04), or a dramatic school festival play (39:32 - 43:04), every event turns into a chaotic display of Handa's accidental "rizz."
The Resolution: After nearly an entire year of isolation and confusion, the school festival provides a turning point (43:05 - 44:30). Handa finally realizes that his classmates have been cheering for him all along, not bullying him, leading him to accept their camaraderie and embrace his place in the school community.
