Congratulations on your 18 years of producing videos on YouTube. Your videos are part of my Sunday morning routine - when I get up, grab a cup of coffee, and see what interesting topic you will present for the week.

I refuse to acknowledge my age, but I must say I appreciate content made by humans for humans. Keep making videos and I’ll keep watching.

I think one of the reasons why a lot of youtube channels are losing views is that most Youtube videos are slop, bloated, and basically just created to show an ad-spot. There is a lot of competition for user attention, if you're putting in the bare minimum effort to produce a clip, guess what, so are many other youtubers. It doesn't surprise me this channel is doing well because the content is always genuine.

56 year old advanced viewer here. I've built many, many PCs and use a mini PC to self host services. I appreciate your content very much and glad to here the channel is doing well.

This channel has retained views because you are an entertaining and meticulous presenter. And you make excellent videos that we all find fun to watch and learn from.

I don't come here to find answers to my problems. I come here to hear from Christopher and learn about whatever he decides to teach me about.
I am 30 years old, with a Bachelor's in Computer Science. Turning 31 tomorrow!

I think the reason that you are seeing an increase in views is that you make timeless, practical videos and aren't swayed by the industry's trends. You also make more general videos rather than explaining specific tasks that can be learnt by reading manuals, googling and now using a chatbot. I make up that 2% 13-17 bracket and I love the videos.

Us Nerds are going to have to look harder for our toys or start getting more into recycling old tech.

I'm 28 and one of main reason I watch your channel is the "slow" diction ^^

Congrats on 18 years of content, always great to watch and learn from your content

You channel was part of the reason I felt comfortable jumping to linux. Thank you. Now I have three machines with Arch-Linux.

I think what sets explainingcomputers apart from other YouTubers is how he presents tech through the lens that they are a tool. Many tech YouTubers forget that technology for most people is a tool and not something people can just spend money on for the sake of. ExplainingComputers I believe, will stay relevant for years to come become of this simple approach and philosophy. sorry if the English is bad. It is not my first language.

Sadly, we're going right back to the 1960's model, where all computing power was 100% dependent on centralized servers, and personal computing that started in the 1970's, is now dead or will be shortly.  Fits right in with the modern move away from personal property -- "You'll own nothing, and you WILL like it.  Or else."

This is absolute premium content. Thanks a lot dear sir

At 85 I have been watching you for many years.  I am not a super tech, but have been a super user since the TRS 80 model 3 (serial no. 89).  You have helped me many times with getting over the first step on many projects.  Early success enables folks like me to be keep digging on my own.  Keep your focus please!

Perhaps many those 24-35 year old's have recommended your videos to a parent and that parent has then shared your videos?

I'm in my 50's and showed one of your video's to my mum because I felt your video explained the topic better than other videos on the same topic, and this is more a credit to your clear explanations that anyone can understand, keep up the good work 👍

I'm approaching 60 and very much like your speaking style and ability to convey information very clearly. Even though I worked in IT 10 years ago, there's always something new to learn. I look forward to more of your storage videos.

One of the 2% of under 18s here – one of the few left with any attention span, allegedly. Just to point out that while it is true that much of my generation is overly-dependent on generative AI, falling victim to its shortfalls is not unique to us. Indeed, the some of my hardest-to-watch experiences witnessing its misuse have been among the 45+ age demographics. Have a look at the comments section of one of the thousands of AI-generated Facebook posts if you don't believe me.

That said, thanks for the continued commitment to weekly uploads and I wish your channel further growth going forward, hopefully across the board in terms of age groups.

I agree with your observation about a move from "personal computing" to "retro computing".  Time to bring out older systems and smaller systems instead of looking at high end non-agentic laptops or desktops.  But, the future is always in motion, and things change.  The early days of personal computing taught us that...

as an advanced Debian user and a volunteer L1-support for my neighborhood, I do highly appreciate your entry-level Linux videos; if we nerds want Linux to thrive, we should keep it accessible :)

I am probably an atypical subscriber, being both very old and highly technical, but I think your personality and competence have a lot to do with the success of your channel. I find your projects inspiring, and would like to see more of them.
