A hard lump next to your nail or stiff fingers in the morning? I'll explain what Heberden's and Bouchard's nodes are, how to distinguish osteoarthritis of the hands from arthritis that shouldn't be ignored, and what really helps according to the evidence: heat, exercises, anti-inflammatory gels, and splints. We'll also review what lacks solid support: chondroitin, collagen, turmeric, or corticosteroid creams.
