The Ending: You successfully survive all 8 days, follow every corporate rule, and reject every supernatural bribe. At the end, you are promoted to "Manager."
The Meaning: This is a cynical ending. It implies that by following the rules perfectly, you have essentially lost your humanity and become part of the machine. You aren't "free"; you’ve just become the one who will trap the next clerk. You are now the "Architect" of the store's hellish loop.
2. The Neutral Ending: "The Groundhog Day / Cycle"
The Ending: You survive, but you made several mistakes or let a few "mimics" in. The final screen shows you waking up in your car on Day 1 again, arriving at the store for the first time.
The Meaning: This represents Purgatory. The store is an entity that feeds on your labor and fear. Because you weren't "perfect" enough to be a manager and didn't "fail" enough to die, the store resets you to harvest your effort all over again. You are stuck in a literal retail loop.
3. The Bad Ending: "Judgement Night"
The Ending: You fail to maintain the generator or scan a "Forbidden Item," and the store is overrun. You are dragged into the backroom, and the final shot shows a new customer walking in—and the clerk behind the counter is you, but with the distorted, garbled face of a monster.
The Meaning: You have been consumed and converted. In the world of Hellmart, the "monsters" are actually former employees who failed their shifts. The garbled language they speak is what happens when a human is processed by the store’s corporate "hell" logic.
The "True" Meaning (Lore)
The overarching theme of the game is that Hellmart itself is a living organism.
The "customers" are its white blood cells, checking to see if you belong.
The "sales quota" is the energy the store needs to stay anchored in our reality.
The "gibberish language" is the sound of human identity being stripped away by repetitive, mindless labor.
Makes the most stupid decisions possible
Edit: Fun fact: It's not that deep.
