I hope this can be a wake up call to the NHS, Doctors are human beings too, and they are tired.

Nurse for 30 years.  Healthcare wasn’t like this at one time.  Being able to actually take care of the patient was so rewarding.  Now it’s all paperwork and regulations.

The healthcare profession is often hazardous to peoples' health.

Makes me sad. All the good people are leaving and all the pyschopaths are staying

Ever since your ‘I Hate My Job but Can’t Quit’ video I suspected this might happen. Decisions like these are rarely easy but it's better to admit you've walked into the wrong room than stay there your whole life. Good on you for knowing your priorities! Wishing you all the best with your new chapter!

I quit my job as a registered nurse recently. For the past three years, I sacrificed myself for this job and it completely ruined my physical and mental health. My body told me to stop and now I’m slowly healing.

I quit for the same reason as Christina. Now I have my mental health and my physical health and my life back.

the government is so busy funding wars in other countries or lining the pockets of biollionaires to care for its own affairs. all governments seem to be going down this path. the medical profession is such a noble one that it's insane that it's not one of the higher paid ones in the UK.

They don’t respect ur time at all

I’ve been there. I specialized and then found myself working 60 hr a week. 24hrs at a time. I started hating how my work interfered with my personal life. I switched to private practice and never looked back. I love my job now and I’m off all weekends, evenings and holidays. Never regretted it for even a moment. You only get one life.

I’m a medical doctor I can relate to this. I tell everyone who wants their kids to be doctors it’s really not worth the hype . U sacrifice all your time and energy for nothing

This video reminded me when my mum told me that she had attempted suicide because her job was too hard on her. She is a Dr. who was taking a year leave at that time before jumping back to college to complete her PG's but for some reason she decided she did not want to waste a year and got a job to earn some experience, little did she know that she was walking into HELL. She was posted in a rural hospital where she saw many chilling cases from women being beaten to near death to small children being malled by animals. Her breaking point was when she came across a case where a small girl was raped and was burnt to death, she told that her genitals were seriously damaged and could be seen ( That's what she told me I think, sorry I don't know much about women anatomy ) and that's when she decided to do it because she couldn't take it anymore. Fortunately she survived and it was when my mom and dad finally married that she got any better he was always there for her, She later opted for pathology and got into clinical work because direct treatment to her patients was not really something she could do. Now she is still working and is the strongest person I have ever known. We have gone through so much but she still never quits and continues to work hard to make my and my sisters future better, and she is the main motivation for me to study and get good grades. ❤❤

"I quit my job as a doctor" is far. more frequent than "I quit my job as a pilot"

Girlll i quit my job last year .
Life is too short to be stuck in a job you hate especially in your early 20's.

My sister is currently doing her residency and I totally understand you. The amount of times she has called us saying how she doesn’t want to go to work because she has a 12 hour or 24 hour shift lined up is crazy. Healthcare workers really need more appreciation

I feel like your mother is a safe space for you. I'm really happy that you have a great support system. I wish you great in life Christina

Me who can't quit for many reassons, coming into YouTube to watch a  brave people who  did actually quit 😢

Something this government doesn't seem to understand is that you cannot force highly skilled people to keep doing the impossible every day without them burning out or leaving. (We will genuinely soon just have almost no doctors left here). Well done for giving it your all. I'm sure you'll move on to bigger and better things.

I know an Emergency Medicine doctor, and it is awful. He told me they barely take breaks on 10 hour shifts, stay late, have entitlement sometimes and rudeness, abuse, people vomiting and spitting blood on them  at times. People unable to see their GP often attacking them and somehow demanding them to do things their GP and the entire health system could not in 5 years in one ED consultation. It was horrific an horrible, and they decided to go part time and do other things. They advised not to completely quit - but to keep the license and work once a week or something, or once every few weeks, while having other things.

Medicine is worth it if you work once a week. It is not sustainable if you work full-time. Many do part-time.

I’m a student who is thinking about getting into medicine, it really feels like a dream at first but recently I’m genuinely so scared of the sacrifices I have to make. This video is making me question this path even more, cause what if I gave so much time, effort, money into med school just for me to regret this choice? I don’t know, I’m scared. But I’m so so happy and proud of you for finding what’s right for you. Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best in this new path!
