Great interview, i was disappointed in wrapping it up when the person being interviewed was more than willing to talk. This is partially why the youtubers are winning, they are not pressed for time, they are willing to go down a rabbit hole, and alot of them are young and curious enough to ask more questions than what they have planned!
In 1977, a group of Black students and I, John Jones, was on a field trip to Boston and unknowingly walk into a racial war zone and were brutally attacked. Amidst the national media frenzy and political fallout, I was a traumatized teenager but found unexpected healing at the dinner table of comedian and activist Dick Gregory. The Invitation: A call comes in. Dick Gregory—the most famous activist in America—wants to see you.
The Police Escort: A dramatic visual of police cars escorting you to his home. It looks like a military operation just to go to dinner.
The Sanctuary: I enter his home. The noise of the city stops. It’s quiet. Smells of good food.
The Meal: This is the heart of the Meeting. Dick Gregory isn't giving a speech; he's cooking. He serves a vegetarian meal. He sits with us one-on-one.
The Dialogue: He talks to us not as a victim, but as a young man and women with a future. He cracks jokes (he is a comedian, after all) to make you smile for the first time in days. He shares his wisdom about health, spirit, and survival.
The Resolution: We leave his home. The police are still outside, the world is still crazy, but I have changed. I no longer feel like a victim; I have been "healed spiritually."
The art of interviewing organically is that you prepare yourself with questions to ask. But…..understanding that you may not get to all of them because of the many genuine, organic moments while conversing. This man was dropping knowledge and it seems you were more interested in getting to your questions you wrote down, so we missed a lot of jewels. People that are smart, have wisdom and experience will always give you info you didn’t prepare for, then you go on that road and uncover what you never knew or was able to research. We missed a lot in this interview. It’s water under the bridge, but maybe this can help another host interviewing great minds.
he's a messenger alri... best thing about how astonishingly clever hw was... by delivering his message ans wisdom 2 us gullible ppl is he become a millionaire from delivering it respect
Dick said nobody looked for Jesus at age 12 when he was missing. But Luke 2 says:
Luke 2:48-49 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”[a] 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
