Welcome to our channel and our 55th video.
The 742-meter-long former railway tunnel was built in 1879 and decommissioned in 1967.
In the final months of World War II, both tunnels were converted into a bombproof production facility under the codename "Meise" as part of the underground relocation project. From October 1944, the tunnel was used for the maintenance and repair of fighter aircraft, primarily Focke-Wulf Fw 190s.
The work continued until the arrival of American troops on April 14, 1945.
