FUN FACT: Melbourne was the richest city in the world in the 1880s, hence the great Empire architecture of that period. This was due to the Gold Rush in Victoria. Syd. AU (next stop)

I left Sydney 11 yrs ago to live in Melbourne it’s been the happiest and exciting time
In my life. It’s not perfect as any city but it’s never dull. Lots of great music the arts festivals horse races afl football and lots more

England and Australia drive on the left because back in the days of jousting (yes) your heart was protected as you passed each other on your horse with your pole in your right hand.

Its actually illegal not to pickup your dog's business. It's the opposite to what you stated. Also, we have noise abatement regs to ensure that neighbours are respectful of each other. You would usually receive a couple of warnings first before an initial fine. Fines are very unusual and its maximum of $800 for first offence. I found it interesting that their was no US cities in the top 20 liveable cities list. Great to see that every major Oz city was on the top 20 list.

Thanks for my trips. I am 80 and can't travel anymore.  God bless you and Nicole. Be safe.

Hi, when you see baths in Australia it means swimming pool. Hope you are loving Melbourne.

ACDC played at my high school formal in Melbourne in 1975, it was amazing I still remember my dance moves and the feeling of rockin out to them

Welcome to my home town enjoy guys

We have the largest community of Greek people outside of Greece in Melbourne.

I’ve been watching your videos from around the USA, but were born and raised in Melbourne. Looking through this lens I realise that the city I’m from is actually the most beautiful and cosmopolitan city I’ve seen. Thank you for letting me rediscover this wonderful city.
PS Melbourne is actually the biggest city in Australia. The numbers were checked in the last couple of years and Melbourne has passed Sydney and will probably continue to grow strongly in the next decades.

Joe and Nic: THANK you SO very much for this wonderful trip around Melbourne, I can't thank you both enough!!  It sure is a beautiful, clean place to vacation!  I LOVED all the art and shops down the alleyways and ALL those tall buildings; there was just so much beauty to take in!  Thank you again and we'll see you in Sydney~~  Safe travels.

Love that you give prices.    Really makes it possible to know what a trip will cost.  Thanks.

First time I went to Australia in 2001 the Discovery Channel was running Qantas ads for RT air from  LA to Sydney, 12 nights hotels, airport transfers between Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns for $1,999!  Only extra was to upgrade the hotels and RT air from my home city to LA.  Best trip ever.

The baths mate are an aquatic swimming pool 😂

Can’t believe you’re actually here, great video, Melbourne really is a beautiful city.  Glad you enjoyed our city.

This is such a great way to travel. Nic is very kind she always gives the street performers something

I was born in Melbourne and have lived in the inner suburbs for the past 20 years. A word of advice for any potential visitors: don't spend all your time in the CBD (downtown). Parts of suburbs like Fitzroy, Collingwood, Brunswick, Carlton and St Kilda are interesting and are easily accessible by tram (and riding the tram is a very Melbourne thing to do). The CBD is for tourists and office workers. The Shrine of Remembrance is also easy to get to and has good views.

I went to Melbourne with my son last July. The Skydeck (Eureka Tower) was great, and we ate out at Hardware Lane every night. Paid a visit to almost every comic shop in Melbourne CBD, Minotaur was our favourite.

Melbourne firsts - tallest steel skeleton skyscraper in 1980s, first full length movie (the Life of Christ), followed by the Kelly Gang,. Also the first cowboy movie, 20 years before Hollywood. (Robbery Under Arms). The ANZ building in Collin's Street has a beautiful ceiling covered in real gold. It was built by the same builders who constructed Saint Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. The bank wanted to be a cathedral to money. Victoria's gold fields produced the most gold in the world and made Melbourne incredibly wealthy. In the 1980s the city was referred to as Marvellous Melbourne. Thousands of Americans were stationed in Melbourne during WW2. BTW Charles is also the King of Australia, New Zealand and Canada. I saw AC/DC for free in my home town in central Victoria because they started off doing free "concerts in the park".

I learned Joe is a rocker. That's awesome!
