I'm a girl, and if I'd been with Tom and his friends that day.... I'd have been the first person to march down those stairs. I love creepy things and would be way to curious to pass it up.
Some friends and I were walking up the dirt driveway to an old, abandoned house that sat back in some woods about a mile off the road it was built near one dark night when we're teenagers (around 1990 or so) because rumor was that is was haunted. We grew up in a very rural mountainous area in northeastern Alabama and were always looking for adventures to embark upon. A few of us had been aware of the place, and the gossip, so we decided to go check it out for ourselves. There were 6 of us, ranging in ages from 15 to 18, me being the youngest. The rather large dwelling had been unlived in for many years, and it was situated in an even more remote location than the norm...even by our county's standards. We ascend up the driveway slowly, traversing the twists and turns as we make our way towards the dilapidated structure. 3/4 of a mile in, and we haven't even spied a glimpse of it yet, and that's when we began to hear a faint grinding noise. It seems to be coming from all around us with no discernable direction as to its' source. The sound is growing louder with every step we take, becoming more intense and deliberate with each second that passes. We creep around another bend in our path, and the house is right there, unexpectedly massive and seeming to have appeared out of nowhere. We hadn't glimpsed any part of it through the trees even though we should have been able to at this distance. By now the noise is absolutely roaring, so loud we would've had to shout to each other to be heard though we were standing together. Suddenly, the 5 others are gone, I turn to see them running at full speed back down the way we came and disappearing around the nearest turn. I turn back toward the house and immediately begin to scan my vision from side to side in an effort to observe everything that might pose a threat...I didn't want to get blindsided by anything, that's for sure. The noise is at a fever pitch, and it's a bit disorienting; so I focus my thoughts on ignoring it and not let it distract me too much. I had come this far, by God, and I wasn't leaving without seeing things through. In a normal though presently inaudible voice I said, "You can stop with all the racket now, you can't intimidate me, I have no fear to exploit..." and the noise instantly stopped. I continued up to the house, walking completely around its' perimeter, and finally eased my way up onto the wrap-around porch (which was falling apart) and made my way inside. The 3 story house was empty of furnishings for the most part, but there were a few scattered things here and there, mostly in one of the upstairs bedrooms. I quietly and calmly explored every room thoroughly, spending close to an hour doing so. When I was finished I strolled back to the black-top where we had parked. The rest of the group was standing directly on the other side of the fence that enclosed the entire property, eyes wide with fear as I rounded the last of the bends and entered their view. They were ecstatic, relieved that I was okay, that they wouldn't have to explain to my parents and the authorities what had happened. After climbing the fence, I asked them why they had beat such a hasty retreat, wondering if they had perhaps seen something I hadn't. The guy who ran first answered by saying that the noise had began to physically affect him and that he hadn't been able to take it anymore. When he went, everyone else followed...their resolve unable to hold. They stated that they didn't realize I wasn't with them until the had reached the fence and asked what happened after they ran away. I explained what had transpired in a derailed manner, that I hadn't witnessed anything visually that concerned me. Only the noise that they had observed, as well. I told them about the old partially covered well around behind the house and about the objects I had discovered upstairs (a few broken toys, strewn pages from books, a couple of black & white photographs, and an old pair of shoes). Never figured out where the noise was coming from or found anything that could have possibly been making it. I made sure to put each of the items back in the exact place I had found them, after having picked each up and examined them. I had briefly considered taking the items with me but then decided they didn't belong to me and left them. Was the crumbling homestead haunted? I don't know. All I know is that the roaring grinding noise was absolutely real. I just don't know what it was. It did make me feel a bit nauseous, as it had the others, but after it stopped I was fine. I felt no ill will or dread once inside, but only an unexpected calm and a urgency to see what there was to see.
If you check it out, you'll find out that all the facts that Tom stated are true, and including the two children. Tranquil is near my hometown. Most people will never go anywhere near that place. There are too many stories about it.
@13:10: that's particularly peculiar, lol! Thanks for adding to the all to few reactions to this wonderful showcase of what makes Tom Tom (tom, tom? Aka, an amazingly talented storyteller, wordsmith and truth sayer). I keep trying to get other channels to react to it. It's truely one of my favorite videos of his, and i usually hate "scary stories" online. I really think it's true, as i've experienced some similar situations, feelings and entities a couple of times myself and it brings me right back. Peace #HOG
