The places everyone tells you to visit in Edinburgh are not actually the highlights! I spent a month living in Leith, biking across the city, touring royal palaces and eating my way through the local markets, and almost all of my favorite moments happened in spots the guidebooks skip. I'm sharing the ones worth your time, from the Sunday-only Stockbridge Market that first opened in 1825 to the 24-mile Water of Leith walkway that feels like a secret garden running straight through the city.

I remember my phone telling me that I climbed the equivalent of something like 75 flights of stairs the day I went to Edinburgh Castle. It's a beautiful city.

Just came across your Edinburgh tour Kristin, and it's obvious that you fell in love with my favourite city. I first lived here as a student many years ago and have lived here on and off since then. You're so right when you say there is so much to see both in and around. You really show off some of the best bits, and also some of the quieter parts. When you return, try coming in the spring or autumn when it's less congested with tourists. As you have seen, Edinburgh has a great public transport network that can take you easily country-wide.
Remember to bring some waterproof and warm clothing though, it's not always so sunny!🙂

Just visited Edinburgh for fringe for a week, did the Castle, Holyrood palace, Arthurs seat, coastal harbour, Swantstons farm, all in between lots of fringe activities. Big week. Amazing city. Great video 👌

You popped up on my recommendations Kristin and seeing as ye were in Edinburgh I was hooked . Enjoyed your top 12 for Edinburgh, my fave thing to do was Arthur’s Seat for the sunrise over the Firth of Forth . Just yourself ( usually) at the ordance marker and a whole city below you slowly waking up . It’s bloody cauld if you do this in the winter but memories will be made anytime of the year . Keep posting 👏

I loved revisiting Edinburgh with you. I went three years ago in July and thought it was a beautiful city, although the weather was a bit unpredictable. We had to put our jackets on at the top of Arthur's seat because it grew so chilly. Your videos looked like it was warmer when you were up there. I loved Edinburgh and hope to go back. Big bonus points for going to Portobello. Yes there's a BEACH and everybody else was too obsessed with Harry Potter and Edinburgh Castle to find it. One point though Kristin. Think on this. Suggesting not going to Edinburgh during the festival fringe and the Tattoo due to crowds, is like saying don't go to New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Don't go to Seattle in the summer, or the Greek Islands in the months everything is open and excursion trips are available. The Fringe and the Tattoo is a belter of an experience. Live Shakespeare plays. Live music all over the place. Live comedy venues and of course the spectacle that is the Tattoo. I was never a fan of jazz, never. Until I saw a band called the New Society Syncopaters there. What a fantastic experience it was. Yes you have to book a lot of it, but my God it's worth it.
Smart move staying in Leith. Nice area and easy bus trip into Princes street and beyond. Even the trams start down at Leith. Connects the Scottish Executive building through to Edinburgh Airport. H,mmm very handy for the lad who used to ride pillion on the back of my my motorbike when we were both students at Stirling Uni in the 80s. He went on to be the head of the executive. Now there was a fella who knew what his transport priorities were. Very enjoyable video, well done.

Thanks for showing things to do in Edinburgh. After watching, I went to Google Maps street view and toured the surrounding countryside like a driving tour, hopscotching all the way to Banff. It all looks so familiar somehow. Feels right. I also "Google toured" some islands of the Bahamas and viewed pictures people have posted of endless beaches, deep blue water and cuisine from quiet resort kitchens looking out over the deep blue Atlantic. I never tire of it. Next year, I put my next plan together!

Visited Dean Village today. Absolutely gorgeous! People are so friendly in Edinburgh. Rosslyn Chapel is also worth a visit.Edinburgh is like one big giant museum!!
