Michael Jai White recently sparked a massive debate by claiming Bruce Lee "wasn't a real fighter." But is he disrespecting a legend, or is he just using a different definition of what it means to be a "fighter"?

In this video, we dive deep into the controversial comments made on VladTV. We explore the massive influence Bruce Lee had on modern kickboxing legends like Joe Lewis and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace—the very men who trained Michael Jai White himself.

We’re not here to bash MJW; he’s a friend of the channel and a legitimate martial arts powerhouse. However, we have to look at the record. From winning the 1958 boxing tournament in Hong Kong to the legendary challenge matches against Wong Jack Man and Yoichi Nakachi, Bruce Lee’s life was defined by combat—just not the kind with a referee and a round bell.

What you’ll learn in this video:

The connection between MJW’s instructors and the Dragon.

The breakdown of Bruce Lee’s real-world fight record.

Why "Sport Fighting" and "Street Combat" are two different worlds.

The truth behind Joe Lewis’s private thoughts on Bruce’s ability.

If you want the full story on the street fights that nearly cost Bruce his life, watch my full documentary here: The Triads Marked Bruce Lee for Death (And...

Michael Jai White didn't hold back when asked who would win in a fight between him and Bruce Lee. Pointing to the massive weight difference and Lee's background as an actor, Michael "doubled down" on a statement that set the internet on fire. Was it a big mistake, or was he just saying what no one else had the guts to say? This "Fight Debate" explores the controversy surrounding Michael Jai White's comments about Bruce Lee, highlighting the clash between size and the speed of Jeet Kune Do in a hypothetical UFC matchup.

Saying that Bruce Lee can't fight because he didn't compete in is like saying that Michael Jackson can't dance because he didn't compete in dance battles.

I keep hearing people say "he's just an actor." Or "he's not a real fighter." Because Bruce Lee was a fighter he was able to create jeet kune do. He showed us how to walk so that one day we could run.

Joe Lewis said Bruce Lee hit like a heavyweight. They all say they couldn't take on Bruce Lee. And they fought in real competitions in the ring and they said this cause they felt Bruce Lee's hits. Michael Jai White never fought full contact and only point fighting and he is going to say he knows who is the real deal and Bruce Lee is not. All of these top fighters said Bruce is the real deal and White thinks he knows more than them. Those who actually train and spar with Bruce? Lots of people doubted Bruce Lee too back in the day until they got hit by him and changed their mind. Bruce Lee won the Hong Kong schools boxing championship in 1958 at the age of 18. He defeated the reigning three-year champion, Gary Elms, by decision in the final match of the tournament. That same year, he also won the Crown Colony Cha-Cha Championship, demonstrating his diverse talents. As a teenager in Hong Kong, Bruce Lee led a street gang known as the Junction Street Eight Tigers (sometimes referred to as The Eight Tigers of Junction Road). So he was not new to real fights with no rules and even weapons were used.

The late Karate fighter Louis Delgado, who had defeated Chuck Norris in competition, had had a private sparring session with Bruce Lee in the 1960s, and claimed that he was in complete awe of Bruce Lee's abilities, and stated that Bruce was the only martial artist who left him completely baffled. Take from that what you will.

Michael Jai White was 5 or 6 years old when Bruce passed away? What does he really know about Bruce? The delusion of people is shocking🤯

FIGHTING IN STREETS HAVE NO RULES, FIGHTING IN RING HAVE

MJW is completely off on this Bruce Lee can't fight B.S. MJW says these people who trained with Bruce Lee wouldn't lie. So if that's the case, Jim Kelly said he witnessed these sparing sessions and Kelly also said. Out of respect he won't expose these world class martial artists. Who were no match for Bruce Lee. So I would ask MJW was Jim Kelly lieing.

None of these people would've had the guts to say this if Bruce Lee was alive and in his prime!

People were jealous of Bruce when he was around, and some are still jealous of him today.

Michael white's name shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Bruce Lee. He hasn't had a molecule of the same success in movies or in REAL fighting. . .💯

Anyone who says Bruce Lee, "wasn't a real fighter", has no idea what they are talking about.

Who else does Michael jai white want him to fight with ? He sparred with joe Lewis , chuck Norris , bob wall, Dan inosanto , James Demile , Jim Kelly , Jesse glover. He fought wong jack man , fought in the street, etc.And some of the guys I named above are better martial artists than you , Michael. And what professional kick boxing and MMA fights have you had , Michael? Zero !
The real problem here is that Michael jai white isn’t getting the respect that he thinks he deserves for his martial arts career so he has to minimize other careers.

Heard a first hand account from Dan Inosanto of Bruce knocking a much larger man down after a traffic altercation. Sounds like it was not much of a fight.

Anyone who says Bruce Lee wasn't a real fighter ...has no idea what a real fight is.

This was like Benzino disrespecting Eminem.
He wish he didn't say that.

The earliest UFC tournaments with very few rules and no weight categories, those were the closest thing to real fights... Once rules were put in place, it switched from fighting to Combat Sport... We don't have those type of early UFC tournaments anymore because they're dangerous. I believe Bruce Lee's philosophy was about being able to apply yourself in any situation. In a true no rules situation, anybody can get seriously hurt and often, the best defense is to just remove yourself from the situation ASAP.

Have never understood how White thinks he has authority on this . He talks like he was a pro fighter like Don Wilson , or Benny the Jet . All he did was Shotokan Karate , he never was a pro kickboxer or boxer . Never had 1 pro fight . But he's all of a sudden the expert .

@Pes60 7 months ago

You've only got to listen to fighters that were around the time,Bruce Lee could spar with anyone, lightweight to heavyweight. He was very fast and strong for his size.He actually had real fights when growing up.Not the controlled stuff you see in a ring.Chuck Norris knows how good he was,he trained with him for months and as Jim Kelly said he was untouchable. Some guys around now seem to think they would beat him in a fight but it's all talk, they don't realise how good he was,he was a level up from other fighters around at the time.

While many people might compare the two, I believe that in a confrontation, Sifu Bruce Lee would likely strike Michael Jai White twice before he even had a chance to react."
